  1. If you don't have an account click the "login or signup" tab in the upper right & create one. To make things easy you can quickly create it using your facebook, twitter, or google login. Your real identity & your login credentials for those sites will remain private. Just be sure to choose an alias when you set it up. PS: Even if you haven't been to SFN in years, your old login will still work.

    the site is so much better then it used to be, did you hire a web designer Mutt or just get better and better over time?
    I love the features like the notifications, being allowed to pic your own avatar, and so may other things. It feels so much more professional, and easy to use.

    I can't stand it. The blinding white background, no quick forum jump, no search, faint text in spots. It's got all kinds of faggotry like the Like button and Facebook and Twitter connections but I hope Mutt gets around to getting the basics worked out. I also don't like that you can't see the identity of a deaded account.

    Overall I think it's a big improvement with some nice features, I do agree with crackfinger that the background is too bright.

    There's a search function, actually a much improved search over the old site, in the upper right hand corner, just below your screen name and notifications

    Small issue but there isn't enough delineation between posts. Most boards (perhaps even the old one here) alternate gray and white backgrounds.

    Now your eye gravitates towards the yellow quote boxes.

    the forum jump is on every page at both the top & bottom. it's a icon of a box pointing up & to the right. look @ the top of this page where it says "logged in members do not see this ad". it's just above that on the right. there's another in the same spot on the bottom.

    the search is on every page. it lets you search for a specific members post, a post in a specific thread, a post in a specific forum, or the entire site. it's very flexible & easy to use. search results are only of posts made this year for now. this keeps everything running quickly.

    there is lots of info about the new site features int eh Q&A forum. by now you should have been able to scan it & realize there's a quick jump if it was so important to you

    as for dead accounts, they were hidden on the old site as well.

    as for colors, get over it. the old site was bright as hell as well.

    as for what you call fagottry, don't use it & it won't bother you. most people enjoy them. things like the like button, the notifications, user tagging etc, all build interaction & keep you involved in your posts instead of losing them.

    yep, I've been meaning to reset the message background to alternating greys again. didn't like how it turned out. it's going to be more than just color changes to get it right.

    I have more trouble with the new site. It takes longer for it to fully load (I have to stop script actually) and I get frequent errors when I try to post. I also liked the old colors and fonts better but that's just aesthetics. Mainly this take much longer for me to use. Which makes me sad because I'm not as eager to visit because of the slowness.
