Jesse and Al helped to kick-start the 'racism' nonsense. They didn't know George Zimmerman from Adam, yet they claim he committed a hate crime stemming from racism, and we're not even sure a crime was committed. NBC news edited his 911 call to make it sound like he was racist. Protests have been organized all over the US over this non-case, and most of it's because of Al, Jesse, and the mainstream liberal press.

like I've said before, Jesse and Al are leeches who will grab onto any headline to stay relevant, I believe they care more about their own publicity than the case itself, kinda like Gloria Allred. Pretty much why people just dismiss these two as attention whores, nothing else, they're not the representitives of all black people so despite the right's thinking that these guys are left wing hero's, they're really not.

Somebody needs to arrest the people in the Video I posted above for inciting rioting and threatening murder. Obama better not let this one get away from him, he really has no choice.

They're talking all about African roots my brother, and quoting King James scripture at the same time. Give me a break, talk about being a slave to something.

Because I (we?) don't believe it was murder. It's obvious the police don't believe it was either. What do many (not all) liberals get their panties in a wad over things like this? Not every incident is a conspiracy or racially motivated.

The lead investigator did think it was and wanted to press charges.

Explain why you think he doesn't understand the presumption of innocence.

It is an absolute certainty that a crime was committed. Either Trayvon Martin committed the crime of assault against Zimmerman who then killed Martin in self defense, or Zimmerman committed the crime of murder. Racism is not a crime.

His outrage that Zimmerman wasn't arrested yet. He has a lot of outrage and rage bottled up inside on this issue that I see.

I think maybe he needs to put more effort into something useful. At least last year he had the OWS movement to occupy his time and energy.

You seem to think that the only definition of the word is when a pervert follows and spies on a woman. Zimmerman stalked Martin as a predator stalks prey. He confessed to stalking Martin in the 911 call. Maybe he did not use that word, but that is what he was doing. Pursuing stealthily.
  14. Luther Full Member

It does not follow from his outrage that he does not understand presumption of innocence. I think he thinks, as I do, that Zimmerman deserves the presumption of innocence IN COURT where he would have the opportunity to defend himself, but that he should, in the absence of obvious exculpatory evidence, at least have to answer to a jury for the undisputed fact that he put a bullet in an unarmed teenager's chest.

What about Trayvon Martin's presumption of innocence? Zimmerman's justification rests on the claim that Martin was guilty of assaulting him. Is there enough evidence to prove that Martin was in fact guilty? Or is proof not necessary because he is already dead?

I'd say that Martin should be exempt from prosecution given his current status. But if Zimmerman hasn't been charged then there must be a lack of evidence there. It just seems like maybe there is "obvious exculpatory evidence" and the outrage that there is no arrest when we don't have all the facts of the case.

Outrage at lack of arrest (to me) either means you don't understand the basis for arrest, or you do understand but you don't have the same access to evidence or facts that those do who would charge him.

Also, I'm not sure why the prosecutor passed up a grand jury. Either there is no evidence and they don't want to see Zimmerman railroaded by an emotional jury, or they are crossing thier t's and getting all their ducks in a row before they go the way of filing a complaint.

Even if Zimmerman is not charged he should not go unpunished. I'd recommend he be suspended from his duties as neighborhood watch captain for no less than three months...

Unless you have an eyewitness who had a clear view of the confrontation and, more importantly, saw who threw the first punch then all we have to go by is Zimmerman's story and the physical evidence (wounds on Martin's body as well as Zimmerman's).
  22. Luther Full Member

If the evidence does not agree with Zimmerman's story, then there should be an arrest and prosecution. Pieces of evidence that do not agree with Zimmerman's story include his lack of injuries consistent with having his head smashed against the sidewalk repeatedly, the lack of Martin's blood on his shirt which would have resulted from a point-blank gun shot, and Martin's voice screaming for help on the audio recording, not Zimmerman. Other important evidence was apparently not collected by the police, such as ballistic analysis to determine the distance of the gun shot. On top of all this is the sheer implausibility of his account. If Zimmerman really thought Martin was such a threat to the neighborhood, why did he turn his back to him? And why would Martin suddenly attack him? While there have been no reports of violence in Martin's past, Zimmerman's history includes attacking a police officer and numerous paranoid 911 calls, including the fatal episode of the ice tea and skittles wielding thug.

I don't want to live in a country where all it takes to get away with killing someone is a lack of eye witnesses and a claim of self defense. In a civilized society the state should have a monopoly on the legal use of force.
