kimmel moving to 11:35pm

he was always on at around midnight, now moving to 11:35pm in january.

howard was always busting his balls about not being on at 11:35 to go up against leno and letterman.

will this be a good move or failure?

it's a good move because Leno AND Letterman both have to retire at some point (probably within 5 years) and this sets Kimmel up to steal some viewers from their replacements during their transitions...

personally i like it b/c out of the 3 i usually like jimmy's monologue, and 12am is too late for me.

I'd move Kimmel to 11:30 so I can fall asleep sooner than if I watched L or L.

Who watches these formula talk shows? Give someone with a real talent like Chris Rock a show - now that I would watch!

Late night talk shows ratings are 80% guest driven and 20% host. Jimmy does as well as he does because he busts his ass and Disney/ABC uses his show as home field promotion giving him great guest access. You can always tell if its a Disney backed movie because the week it comes out Jimmy will have most of the cast spread out over the week. The earlier time slot cant do anything but help him.

I like Jimmy but not only have I never seen his show, I don't think I've ever met a person that has.

It's a good move for Jimmy. I hope he takes share from Leno and NOT from Letterman

He probably won't beat Leno.Even I can admit that Leno has a good hold on the #1 spot for Late Night.But I hope Kimmel does well.He seems like a genuine good guy and there are no reports of him being a scumbag or an a**hole like Leno and Letterman are.

Jimmy Kimmel is OK as a comedian but his show is so dull and unwatchable. I used to like Letterman but he's just a creepy old guy now

Hey, I think almost anybody would admit Kimmel is better than Leno. What'll be interesting to me is whether Kimmel's ratings stay the same or go down at 11:30.

Very curious to see if Howard will be on Kimmel Live the first week Kimmel has in January. I don't doubt Jimmy will put as much pressure on him as he can (and not just one of those lame "green screen" appearances phoned in from NY).

What happens to Nightline? They got better ratings than Jay and Dave.

better than Leno at what? certainly not a better late night talk show host. they're not even in the same league.

who watches late night shows ? same thing lame jokes, and even worse interviews

I thought Howard use to tell him he was smart to just stay where he was so he could do his thing under the radar and not get involved in the 11:30 X vs Y vs Z ratings crap. And Jimmy 'claimed' he was happy doing just that.

Hard to argue with that. But Kimmel is "least lame." I can tolerate Kimmel a lot better than I can Leno.

But I think when all three shows go head to head in January, they're just gonna split the ratings and be a fraction apart, with Kimmel in 3rd place. There's not a lot of people watching network TV at 11:30PM anymore.

There is going to be a huge difference as to who likes which show. In my own personally opinion in order I like Kimmel and then Leno some nights. Letterman's show has turned too political and I can get that from cable news. Conan's show to me has always used extremely stupid humor. Fallen is unwatchable because he's so pc.. I think Jimmy Kimmel will eventually win the Late night wars because he is more real. Leno asks softball questions that annoy me. Who the shows have on does factor in. Ferguson's show is improving.

Ferguson currently has the best late night talk show by far.

Kimmel is better than Leno or Letterman, and so is Jimmy Fallon. I love watching Kimmel, but his interviews suck, and thats not his fault. All late night interviews suck because its all garbage. I hate watching kimmel ask stupid gay ass questions when you know he hates it. I want to see him punch his guest in the face.
