Ok. Sure I know his "taste" in entertainment is lousy. (Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, etc.)

Yet I went out onto a limb after his more-than-glowing review of the movie "Thor." Well folks I went to see it and it has to be one of the SHITTIEST PIECES OF GARBAGE I have ever seen. I am not kidding, it's absolutely horrible. It makes "Sex and the City 2" look like fucking "Casablanca."

I've been in film and television for over a decade and seen some stinkers in my time, but this one is in the top five worst movies E-V-A-R! I walked out 60 minutes into the film and got a full refund. What a pile of shit.... no more movie reviews from Howard for me.

    Save your money... trust me.

that movie blew. Howard was very right about Source code. Great movie

    93% on Rotten Tomatoes
I guess you need another decade in film and television to get it.

Still want to see that but will probably have to wait till Netflix.

I watched teeth the other day, I enjoyed it. About only howard review that I have agreed with.
  8. $cott$inc Full Member

Saw it a few days ago with nine of my friends. We all agreed it was fucking shit.

    Agreed.

    {SPOILER ALERT!}

First of all Thor's accent wandered scene to scene from American to Australian to Scandinavian. It drove me nuts. The costumes were so fucking clownish and ridiculous that Thor's "evil brother" looked like the Tick's partner Arthur. I kept thinking the Tick was going to make an appearance any second. And Anthony Hopkins getup looked like a fucking Transformer for christ sakes.

And you're telling me that these immortals can transport you to any "realm" in the multiverse but have to ride fucking horses half a mile across a god damn bridge to get to the transporter? WTF? You kidding me? It was unintentionally funny. And when Natalie Portman was kissing Thor it looked like he was giving her artificial respiration and not a kiss. Those two had about as much chemistry as a brick and a log do. Finally, she hit's him with her motorhome and car... twice? Not once but twice? Who the fuck hits the same person on two different days in two different places in two different vehicles? Oh. Ya. Natalie Portman does in the movie Thor.

    {SPOILER ALERT OVER}

... anyhow to all the people who like it, perhaps we saw a different cut of the movie cuz what I saw blew. ;)

I dont follow Howards recommendations, especially on super hero movies which I think are nearly always stupid. I think Howard even gave a good review to the Fantastic Four, but Im not sure.

howard just likes whoever pays him enough. he'll say anything now for a $ and justify it later.

i disregard his opinion about any movie...if anything, i assume he's being compensated for his opinion. sirius probably doesn't see a dime from his advertising.

I don't usually even like superhero movie's, but this one I thought was great.
  13. gypsylands Full Member

Howard doesn't watch or play sports--why would you follow his movie recommendations?
  14. $cott$inc Full Member

    Here's what I didn't like:

    1. The setting - quiet town in New Mexico? Fail.
    2. Thor: A love story. He literally changed overnight.
    3. ENOUGH with the ditzy female co-star ruining these types of movies with hawwrible comedy already.
    4. Thor asking for directions in the bar. why not just beat it out of them?
    5. Drunk Thor returns from the bar bragging about drinking and fighting. So...where was the fight?
    6. Clark Gregg sucks and Stellan Skarsgård REALLY sucks.
    7. Stellan Skarsgård rescues Thor by telling Clark Gregg that he's a scientist. W-T-F ? ? ?
    8. Anthony Hopkins and Thor's friends/Warriors Three DID look ridiculous.
    9. Hogun had no kung-fu moves.
    10. No origin of how Thor's hammer was made.
    11. Crap final battle. Wasn't even a battle really.
    12. That was Hawkeye? dude didn't even fire one arrow.
    13. The 3D was cheap.
    14. Samuel L Jackson AGAIN?? Change it up you lazy fucks.

    Things I liked:

    1. The frost giant fight.
    2. Tom Hiddleston as Loki
    3. The final credits/Foo Fighters song.

I took him up on his recommendation of BIG STAN starring the insufferable Rob Schneider.

    It was utter drek!

Now whenever Howard loves something so much he has to bring it up on the air, I just assume he's been paid to say so.

That or he just has incredibly shitty taste in flicks.

But I'm still gonna go see THOR

I stopped taking Howard's recommendations after wasting my money on a bottle of Snapple almost 20 years ago.

I was going to say the same thing, but not so eloquently...I don't believe a word from Howard's mouth anymore regarding products, movies, etc. since it appears he is now a corporate shill...he either gets paid or gets a red carpet event for him and Beth to attend...blah...it makes me sad because it used to only be this way when he was promoting his own videos, etc. (the only time I had to tune out in the old days was during the incessant promos of Butt Bongo Fiesta, the New years' eve special, Private parts, etc)...but even those plugs were somewhat entertaining...

Source Code rocked! Most unusual and unique movie I have seen in a long time. And I don't particularly care for Jake Gyllenhaal, especially after he was fucked up the ass in that western documentary. :D

I can also put in a thumbs up for Hanna. The soundtrack by the Chemical Brothers was stunning, and Saoirse Ronan has been literally miraculous since Atonement.

Howard's movie tastes must be viewed from his perspective- he was raised as a veal, with no socialization skills. Everything dates back to wishing he could beat up all the bullies in his high school then fly away to a Fortress of Solitude- overlooking Central Park. :rolleye2:

Yup. Thor arrives on Earth. Gets hit by a motorhome and car. Thor demands quote, "sustenance" unquote, and get's taken out for pancakes in small New Mexican town by 'quirky' researcher-love-interest. The one who just ran him over twice, remember? Thor falls in love over breakfast. WTF? It was like they flipped a lightswitch and he went from heir to the throne of Asgard to pussy-whipped pretty-boy from Orange County in three scenes. Huh?

I'll watch "Thor" this week when someone puts it on Youtube and judge for myself.

howard loved "wolverine" which blew dead dog, no way thor's worse than that.
  23. macheson Full Member

didnt he love alien vs predator 2
  24. EthelsGrandson Full Member

Source Code was horrible. Howard was wrong about that one too.
