I found it comical how she blames confidentiality laws.... any state or federal privacy laws regarding medical information are easily waive-able by her. Her releasing the proof consistutes a waiving of her right to medical privacy with regards to what was released.

You mean all those press conferences held by doctors and team physicians regarding an actors or athlete's physical condition all violate federal privacy laws?

Those things go on every day.

There are press releases regarding Johan Santana'a shoulder every day. Those are illegal?
There were reports regarding Joe Paterno's cancer every day. Those violated confidentiality laws?

It's just lie on top of lie on top of lie.

I believe she made the whole thing up. For a lot of reasons.

First, if you research this issue, you will find MULTIPLE cases of people going to JAIL for fraud like this. I think she is desperately trying to stay out of jail at this point, and thinks as long as no one can force her to disclose her medical records she has a shot at it.

Second, her ex-fiance made some VERY specific claims about what happened at the hospital (the doctor saying there was no cancer, that Raven clearly had mental problems, etc.). If that did not happen the way he says it did, then it's a slam dunk case of slander/libel. Yet Raven doesn't seem to be interested in pursuing any slander case. Why not?

Third: For the sake of her KIDS, she should be extremely eager to clear her name. Would be SO simple to just PRIVATELY show proof of her cancer to Jon or Howard or whoever. The fact that, when asked to show proof, she immediately starts in with the nonsense about it being against the law to force her to disclose her medical records, when NO ONE has ever suggested forcing her to do anything, seems VERY guilty to me.

Fourth: All her other lies. She got accepted to Harvard Law?! No way. People are saying she also claimed to be a black belt, a master ballerina, accepted to Julliard, etc. She sounds like she is a genuinely pathological liar.

Fifth: I think it would be pretty easy to prove that she got a LOT by this scheme: people sent her gifts from her wishlist, they sent her private donations, and of course they gave her sympathy. And regardless, if Raven suffers from some kind of psychological disorder, then lying like this could just be a symptom of her disorder--it doesn't have to make sense.

Sixth: She claimed she lost $250,000 in income from money she could have made in porn?! Puhlease.

Seventh: She claims that she is camming now and escorting because she is the "sole provider" for her kids. That's a quote from an article on a porn site where she gave an interview a week or so ago. But in reality, she doesn't even have primary custody of her kids. Her ex-husband does (at least, that seems to be the consensus online).

It really seems like this is a case of lie upon lie upon lie.

I for one think Raven's pants are very much aflame.

Oh, one thing that really bugs me about Jon's news report:

Why did he interview Raven's lawyer?

Jon actually asked Raven's lawyer if HE thought she was lying about having cancer.

Doesn't Jon know that it would be a violation of legal ethics for a lawyer to impeach his own client's credibility? OF COURSE he's going to say he doesn't think his own client is a liar!

    Duh.

I guess he just wanted to see his reaction to this kind of point-blank question. I didn't hear the report, how did he answer?

If he equivocated in any way, it speaks volumes about his client. If he said anything other than "I absolutely know for a fact that she had cancer," it says something. Even if he says something that's only subtly different, like "I truly believe she had cancer" or "I am convinced she had cancer" is a minor equivocation.

Back in the Watergate days, the White House used to use a tactic known as "the non-denial denial." When confronted with an accusation that was true, but damaging, a member of the Nixon White House would say the accusation is "rumor, hearsay and innuendo propagated by our opponents and the press. There is no reliable evidence supporting that claim. Those accusations are outrageous and ridiculous, and the mere fact that you and others are asking that question is irresponsible, and shows where your sympathies lie."

At no point did they just deny that the accusation was true. After a while, it became easy to identify the "non-denial denial," and you realized that the reason they weren't outright denying the accusation was because it was true.

You know, you're right. And in fact, the lawyer definitely spoke in a non-committal way. He basically said that she did look like she was suffering from *something*, and that it looked like she was being treated for something. But he definitely did NOT say, "Oh she absolutely has cancer."

On a second listen, you're right--it does speak volumes.
  15. NickEmmanuel Probationary Member

One last thing that just doesn't add up. Raven said she didn't want to PRIVATELY show medical proof of her cancer, even to anyone at the Howard Stern show. She said it's dangerous to do so, citing privacy issues, etc.

But the Howard Stern show ALREADY knows her real legal name, right? She presumably had to sign release forms to appear on the show, right?

Also, it seems clear that she wouldn't have to show any sensitive material at all--she could just show an MRI, and give the DIAGNOSING DOCTOR permission to discuss the nature of Raven's cancer--and only that--on the air. The doctor can easily be verified.

So I don't see how Raven faces ANY dangerous consequences by proving she has cancer. And considering that she has two kids and should really WANT to clear her name (for their sakes!), I think anyone in her position would do it.

The fact that she gets so defensive and starts citing medical privacy laws any time anyone asks sounds VERY guilty to me.

"suffering from something" and cancer are not the same thing, this lawyer clearly knows the distinction

I like that she ran out and shaved her eyebrows. If anyone on the staff would be really pissed it would be Will, who had actual cancer as a kid.

    I'll wait for his statement.

The more I think about it, the more pissed off I get. The Howard Stern Show has been SOO good to this girl, but she is afraid of PRIVATELY showing someone on the show proof of her cancer? She says privacy is a concern, and she doesn't want to show her medical records to the world. NO ONE ASKED HER TO. All that was asked of her was proof of something that SHE has already made public!
Think about it: SHE is the one that told everyone all about her cancer. She tweeted about it, she went on the radio to talk about it, she asked for donations, and so forth. She told everyone she could all about the cancer in her liver that spread to other organs and finally her brain. SHE spoke and posted publicly all about her seizures, about her loss of motor skills, about her being too weak to walk or stand. SHE made her medical condition a most PUBLIC thing.
So obviously she has no problem discussing her cancer in public--she clearly wanted EVERYONE to know about it. So what sort of privacy or confidentiality is she worried about?
Please note: No one is saying she should publish personal private information, like her address or social security number. No one is saying she should publish her entire medical file. The only thing that was suggested--so that people would know if she committed truly HEINOUS fraud or not--is that she show evidence of her CANCER (to people, by the way, who already HAVE her personal information, who already know her real name, who know her age, and have photocopies of her ID, etc.). All that was suggested is that she back up what SHE already made PUBLIC.

For example--she could just give her diagnosing doctor permission to discuss the nature of her cancer (the type, the extent, etc.--all things she has already discussed publicly). The doctor could be verified. No respectable doctor would lie about something like this and risk his license.

No one is asking her to divulge ANY information other than proof of what SHE has already willingly made public. The fact that she immediately refuses to do so, and defensively cites medical privacy laws, is VERY suspicious. At the very least, there is a great deal of irony in someone eagerly telling as many people as possible that she has cancer, and then demanding medical privacy when they ask for proof...

I mean, seriously--why did Raven refer Jon to her lawyer?? Why not refer Jon to her DOCTOR? The lawyer made clear that he can't possibly know if she has cancer or not. But Raven's doctor KNOWS for a fact whether Raven has cancer.
I am convinced that she made it all up, and at this point is just doing anything she can to keep from going to jail. (Lots of people have been arrested in recent years for just this fake-cancer type of fraud.)

You know who should be pissed? Anyone who went out of their way to help her either monetarily or emotionally because they tried to be a good Samaritan and help someone who was in need, but it turns out they weren't in need after all, they had just been lying about it.

But you know who I'm really angry at? Me.
I'm angry at myself. I'm not angry at myself for believing her. Not really. I'm angry at myself for being surprised about this. Now, I don't have a whole lot of experience with sex trade workers, but I have come in contact with several who would have done this kind of thing.

To some strippers, everyone in the world is a mark to be taken advantage of.
And some strippers will do or say anything for approval, even if it's some phony story about a sick mother or they're just stripping to get through college, or how they need a boyfriend who understands them.

I'm mad at myself for being surprised that Raven Alexis was one of those girls.

After having thought about this for a while, I've decided I'm not really mad at her (of course, I didn't give her anything. If I had, I'm sure I'd be plenty mad at her). I feel sorry for her. I feel sorry for her because she's so damaged she had to make up a story about dying to get everyone to feel pity for her, and so she could take advantage of them. I mean, anyone with half a brain should have known when she started that it wouldn't end well. How can you keep this kind of charade up? Who would tell a lie that means you have to die in three months in order to maintain it?

So she wanted everyone to love her, and now everyone will hate her. She wanted to take advantage of people, and now she may face legal repercussions.

And as a bonus, she lost her boyfriend, and if she's ever prosecuted, she can pretty much kiss goodbye any chances of getting custody of her kids.

Now she deserves pity. But I don't think she's going to get it...

This has to be the worst thought out con ever.

if da rumorz is true i dont think it a con for money mama-looka. other than a toy drive n amazon wish list she wasnt really askin for nothin. if it true that she mentally ill.
  23. Mama-looka Full Member

If she did it just for attention and approval, that makes it even worse.

I was about to say "I hope the rumors aren't true," but I really don't. Because if you hope the rumors aren't true, then you're hoping that she really does have stage 4 brain and liver cancer. And I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
