LIVE Sirius S50 Portable Due in Mid-2006

I only hope that they take their time with development and testing to make sure that the product works before releasing it to the market. By rushing the S50 out in time for Christmas with its numerous bugs was a poor business decision.

I would have been pissed if I got that s50 only to learn that it has no live portability, so it is essentually a high priced mp3 player....I already have an Ipod video which is great but if they have true LIVE radio on this new s50 I'll consider getting it only after seeing some detailed reviews of it....I have the sportster replay with the boombox, car & home kits so I'm all set for now especially since I can use ANY radio in the house & listen via the fm transmitter si I use my little portable walkman radio to listen to howard when I'm doin stuff around the house it's the next best thing to being a portable sat. radio

Back on Dec 8th we reported some rumors of the S50 going portable. Some internet chat was that the S50 would get a portable dock to make the current unit work on the go. The S50 car and home docks are were the satellite receiver is located. We are told that there is no plan for such an S50 portable kit at this time. Our sources tell us that SIRIUS is working on an S50 like unit that will be portable for father’s day. May and June in the past has been the time when SIRIUS has released new items. We are following some trails of info about other units and we will post info when we get more sold info on them.

Nope, you have to record the station you are listening too, if you want to change the station, it asks you if you want to stop the recording and save or just change the station.

hey Brandy11976 - yeah that black antenna on top rotates 360 degree either way. just move it slowly and it should rotate, dont force it, there might be somethin wrong with it.

but mine moves around. i sit on a train to get to work and i can move it depending on where i sit and the signal strength gets stronger.....let me know if urs moves now

There will never be a truly portable standalone unit without an antenna. This technology simply cannot work without one.

So you will eventually be able to take sirius with you whereever you go (like the delphi myfi), but you will look funny with an antenna mounted on top of your head.

Oh yeah I found it, I thought that was just a cover for the unit. The signal is better when I move that piece around, but I noticed when I sit on different sides of the bus the signal is better/worse. Wish I lived in NYC where the signal is the best: never get acquiring signal while walking around the streets.
