I don't think I want to be associated with any thread that has the suffix of "...philes" in it

I saw "Goya's Ghosts" a couple weeks ago. Wasn't too shabby.

It's Milos Forman's latest release, based on the life of the Spanish painter Goya. It wasn't half bad but I expected more from Forman. It centers aroung Goya and his dealing with the Spanish Inquisition, the Spanish aristocracy, and Napoleon as he invades Spain. The guy who plays a priest in the Inquisition is really good in it..I think his name is Javier Bardem??

Just watched Knocking.... an interesting documentary on Jehovah's Witnesses... strongly recommended.

I really hate mel gibson's anti semitic ass... but Apocolypto, which I recently saw was amazing. Excellent cinematography.

The director/writer team of Trainspotting have come out with a new film, Sunshine, not released in the U.S. yet but it was excellent....

"Control" by Anton Corbijn is supposed to be really good. Don't know if it will get released here in the States. It's about the life and early death of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis.

    watched Pans Labyrinth last night

    excellent :)

Apocolypto should have won for best picture, although the departed was quite good and Marty needed some recognition.

Have you seen Pans Labyrinth and Children of God yet? They aren't everyones cup of tea, but they are both thoroughly enjoyable....

I finally saw "300" when it came out on DVD last week and thought it was really well done, very entertaining with no weak spots.

Jeez, looking at my Netflix rental history I haven't seen a decent movie since May when I rented "The Hidden Fortress," the Kurosawa film that Star Wars was loosely based on. Lots of Power Rangers and Drake and Josh DVDs, though. A couple of the family-friendly old movies like "Captain Blood" and "Captains Courageous" were entertaining, though. And "My Neighbor Totoro" was terrific in spite of being kid-friendly.

I agree. I watched "Following Sean" a few nights ago. It's about a filmmaker who filmed a four-year old boy, Sean, in the sixties, Haight-Ashbury, and now has found him again. It tells what is going with him as an adult (very interesting person, I thought) and also it's about the filmmaker's own family.

Along those lines, have you seen Green Street Hooligans? Just an enjoyable pic with a great premise....

Green Street Hooligans is really good. A movie came out last year called "This Is England" about skinheads in the early '80's. It's based on the directors life growing up as a young skinhead. Very, very good movie.
