I agree. Seems like doing something different with the Phoenix race is more likely. Can you imagine not running Daytona first during the season?

Thats what they were saying on Nascar radio earlier.

You liked the fact the season started later or that they tried to not have the NFL bury them by racing on Super Bowl day. Funny thing is it was the wrong decision however you look at it.

I think more likely is running laps tonight then finishing tomorrow??

Nascar would have been buried by the Superbowl. On paper this weekend was perfect because nothing else was going on. They're in a big mess right now though.

Is that right? I'm stuck in the office today, and I can't get the online feed in here.

It's not like it was 15 years ago...when the 2'nd race of the year was Rockingham. hell.....they could run it on Wednesday and still be fine.

If they cant run it tonight they were talking about moving it to Easter weekend. Thats the first weekend they have available. Rain is suppose to taper off so hopefully they can race it under the lights tonight.

Radar looks alot better then it did this morning. Nascars going to be fucked if they get the track dry at 3:00 and then it starts raining again after 7:00. They will have blown the 4 hour window to run the race.

I'll be interested to see how the ratings are tonight compared to running on Sunday afternoon. Its going to be badass to see them run the 500 under the lights!
  11. cobainsbrain Full Member

    Ratings will be huge.

I'm pumped... I was pissed because I was gonna miss it since I have to work. but now I'll get to see it.

    Yay Me!

I feel bad for the people who plan their once a year vacations around events like this and most likely will not even get to see hereforto said event.

    Well said. Well spoken.

This is what they should do at every race the gets rained out (if they have lights). Run the race on Monday night.

I just read this on nascar.com.

It takes between two and three hours to dry the 2.5-mile track surface, an effort Helton said would continue throughout the day. "Based on the weather, based on NASCAR, we think 7 o'clock is realistic," Chitwood said. "We also have some buffer if we had to delay a little longer than that."
And if the rain persists Monday night? "Tuesday is an option," Helton said. "We're focused on [Monday] and [Monday] afternoon right now, but just so everyone knows, Tuesday is an option before we'd have to reconsider packing up and leaving. But [Tuesday] is an option."
