Obama healthcare law could sharply worsen deficits: study

Discussion in 'Politics' started by blargy, Apr 10, 2012.

The study has been dismissed by several economists today, including the Democratic Medicare trustee (Blahous is the R trustee) and folks at the CBPP. Not surprising that this report wound up being bogus...it WAS funded by the Kochs, after all.

It's ok...you started this thread prematurely and failed miserably. Tomorrow's a new day.

I addressed your Klein article expecting some kind of facts or debate and all you have is a Democrat Medicare trustee and "several economists" :jj2:

    Nice fail.

That's actually how private insurance works as well. If you have to get something done out of pocket it will cost you a lot more than any insurance company pays for the same thing. For example, if you have to go get a test done at a LabCorp they will charge you half if you pay the entire test up front compared to if you have them bill you but insurance pays even less than that half charge.

Wow...you just laughed off Blahous' Democratic counterweight on the Medicare board, implying that his opinion is biased and therefore not valid. Continuing your logic, Blahous must also be biased and so his findings cannot be valid. And THAT was my original point in this thread.

Glad we could come to agreement that your basing an entire thread on the findings of some biased political hack funded by the Koch brothers was a complete and utter failure.

    It is a bad plan.

Doctors take less for Medicaid because of Medicaids buying power.

The same buying power Bush stripped out of the prescription drug benefit...

Some Doctors refuse to accept any Medicaid patients

Some Doctors see mostly Medicaid patients

So Blargy's premise is yet again... Wrong.

The IRS does not come after you if you don't pay your car insurance.

The IRS will come after you if you don't pay your health insurance.

Big, big difference. IRS has the power of levy and they will throw your ass in jail too. :cold:

I countered your klein argument with a breakdown of why he failed. You then are supposed to counter mine, but you didn't, you didn't come up with any argument, you just said "he said so". So I'd still like a counter argument because you haven't presented one.

You can only argue source for so long; time for substance.
  11. NC-Stern-Mark Full Member

There is no substance in your source.

    Sorry Blargy... :jj2:

You'd be correct if Medicare paid what insurance companies paid

So you support the government throwing people in jail for not signing up for health insurance??

If Obama weren't such a wuss (and in bed with private insurance companies), he would've gone against his campaign pledge not to raise taxes on individuals making less than $250k. He could've used congress to create a new heathcare tax (instead of an unconstitutional mandate) and enacted universal healthcare.

I like what you said but what we have to work with is fine for now. He is hiring a shit-load of IRS agents.

Oh yeah, people are petrified... I'm sure that all 36 millionaires that were audited by the IRS over the last 2 years were shaking in their boots :jj2:

You don't have to be scared, you just have to pay.
  19. jtheweirdo Full Member

Regardless of who pays more, I am right. The point is healthcare "insurance" (private and government) pay much less than what a single uninsured person pays.
  20. Spinboy Full Member

I'm in month 20 of an audit with no end in sight. They've had all of my paperwork for over a year, but say they are so back up that it may be another 6-12 months before I get a response. The best part is that I owe 15% more because interest in accumulating on the amount that I supposedly owe. I just can't imagine the government being efficient at anything. I'm basically being shaken down by the IRS.

Oh come on. They're swell fellas who I would never condemn on public forum. I hear they are also some pretty smart cookies.

No, you're not. Because our insurance companies are also help subsidizing medicare patients. Making them all medicare patients leaves no one left to subsidize them and you have an implosion.

I'm sorry to hear this. Sounds like some of my dealings with other branches of the gov't.

But then after some reconsideration, I think I now agree with waly.

Groups pay less than singles. Why is this difficult to understand... wholesale vs. retail. Tough concept, I know.
