I was at work so could not watch the game but was following it online. The whole game, I would have bet my life that the Mets would have blown that game in the top of the 9th. I was totally convinced of it. I was utterly shocked. Pitching was solid, Wright had a few hits, but Torres will go on the DL. Meaning Tejada to the lead off spot. They expect Kirk Niewenhuis to get brought up.

    First place!!

Don't strain your neck Marlins, Nats and Braves looking up at us biatches!

Mets have looked solid so far, pitching and bullpen have been strong. A nice start so far from the Metropolitans, Niese is on the mound Tommorow for the sweep. First series of the season and going on a sweep of Atlanta, not bad at all.

    Where is the pedo now?

    FIRST PLACE!!!

I know it's only 3 games but a strong sweep of the Braves to start the season is pretty god damn good. Niese looked good up until the 7th inning but that restructured bullpen got the job done, love what I'm seeing from these Mets in this first series of the year.

Not too many years ago, players in the Mets farm system were dispirited as they watched the organization fill voids with free agents and pass over homegrown talent.

Through austerity or otherwise, the organization now has done a 180-degree turn.

In fact, it is likely Monday night that the Mets will start eight homegrown players against the Washington Nationals -- Mike Pelfrey, Josh Thole, Ike Davis, Daniel Murphy, David Wright, Ruben Tejada, Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Lucas Duda.

That would be the franchise's most homegrown starters in an April game since April 19, 1990, according to an ESPNNewYork.com review of lineups. That game included: Barry Lyons, Dave Magadan, Gregg Jefferies, Kevin Elster, Mark Carreon, Keith Miller, Darryl Strawberry and Dwight Gooden. The lone starter who originated elsewhere: Howard Johnson, who began with the Detroit Tigers.

The lone projected Monday night starter not originally from the system: Jason Bay, who was drafted by the Montreal Expos in 2000. Bay actually played 69 games for Class A St. Lucie two years later, before being traded to the San Diego Padres in the summer of '02 in a deal that landed right-handers Steve Reed and Jason Middlebrook in Flushing.

enjoying the ride. Gee needs to build on 1st half of last season

I'm liking the 4-0 start, they're playing good ball right now and everyone is contributing, these have all been team wins.

It sucks that baseball is knocking the Rangers out of relevancy from the sports pages in April but if it has to be then at least I'm glad it's the Mets as they get out of the gate fast and the Spankees as they implode.

And yeah, no shit Puss. Wow, any good bets you wanna clue us into while you're at it?

What Mets fan has said anything remotely close to warrant such a stupid comment?

Tell us again how the 76ers are going to "run away" with the division!

Wright is not in the lineup tonight vs. the Nats, jammed right pinky finger, seeing if it might be worse. We'll need him tommorow vs. Strausburg. Should be a great matchup Strausburg vs. Santana battle of the aces. Looking forward to it.
