YA that was a great one. I believe it was one of the official top 10 Premiership goals of all time. That list included those two Bergkamp goals, the Cantona goal, and I believe the Thierry Henry turn-and-volley goal against Man U.

Whoa, did anyone else see the Chelsea vs Bayern Munich second leg game today on espn?

Gotta give credit to Bayern for trying their hardest in closing minutes. Kahn couldn't have stopped that second goal.

    Juventus vs Liverpool next

I know we have a bad reputation in England for football hooligans but the scenes I saw in the San Siro at the Milan derby tonight were an absolute disgrace.

I think only a 3 year ban for Inter Milan from playing in the Champions League would give me confidance in UEFA again. However I suspect it will be swept under the carpet.

That was some Raw action at the San Siro!! It will be interesting to see what comes of that.
Bayern and Chelsea was a good game, Chelsea probably deserved to go through after the 2 legs.
I tip Lyon and Liverpool to progress tomorrow.

So much for your dark horse Lyon. PSV knocked them off today in a shootout.

Liverpool actually pulled off the upset of Juventus. Now they are off to get destroyed by Chelsea. Or can they come up with a miracle? I certainly hope they do.
  11. HollowTree Full Member

Yeah, my dark horses are out, PSV overcoming Lyon. Penalty shoot-outs are a chance exercise to an extent, any team can win them, but credit to PSV, they done well and deserved to progress. I simply cannot see them beating AC Milan in the semi-finals however, and i think Lyon would give them a tougher game.

As for Liverpool, they battled it out in Turin! They did very well, especially Xabi Alonso, first game back in months, gave a solid display!
I would not rule out the "miracle" of Liverpool overcoming Chelsea in the other semi. Think of it like this, it takes place in two weeks time, Cisse is back, Alonso is back, Smicer is back, Gerrard will be back, Hamman will be back, Garcia is playing well, Nunez is improving, the defense look solid, and the team is on the up!

Chelsea were actually quite lucky to get the win of Bayern! And they have been letting a few goals in of late too. I think this game may be closer than many think, and i am going to tip Liverpool to progress to a final date with AC Milan!!

For the Chelsea-Liverpool game, all previous form will go out of the window. The game will be played like an FA cup tie in my opinion. All blood and guts and not the usual patience of a European cup tie.

You put you're left leg out, you put the right one in....

If Liverpool wins the CL, then Stevie G will stay!!!

I hope Newcastle wins the UEFA Cup. I think they are the most talented team left, but all of their internal turmoil has me worried. I have never been a Newcastle fan, but I want Shearer to get a trophy.

A couple of weeks ago I think you said he would be staying and I disagreed with you. I think im coming around to your way of thinking.

If they get to the final and Lose I still think he may stay for one more season. If Liverpool lose to Chelsea it is still my opinion that he will be leaving in the summer. Good luck to him whatever he does though.

Are you a Liverpool fan Luther?

And here is a question for everybody who posts in this thread. Which team do you support. And then which team do you follow regularly in other soccer Leagues.

Im a Leeds United fan and we're in the championship at the moment, which is the league below the prem.

In Italy I like Roma, Spain I Like Valencia, France I Like Marseille and in Germany I Like Dortmund who incidently have the highest average attendance in world football. 75,000 people.

Firstly, i am beginning to feel the same, that if Liverpool get past Chelsea, and overtake Everton for fourth(which i think they will do), then Gerrard will stay. As i mentioned in another post, things are coming together for Liverpool right now, it has been easy to forget how much talented players they have missed this season.

For next season, i think they could do with a couple very decent central defender, possibly Ayala, they could even go for that Milan defender whose name escapes me, he has a big fuzzy head of hair, and is on loan at Depotivo.
Another couple midfielders, and a striker. I see them maybe letting some players go, such as Baros and Kewell.

As for the team i follow, i would have to say i do not really follow any! I just like to watch "the beautiful game". I enjoy watching certain teams more than others however, such as the unstoppable Arsenal team of last season, Real Madrid of a few seasons ago, Barcelona last season, etc.

For all the US viewers that can't see all the Champions League games on ESPN2, you can use Coolstreaming. It works like bit torrent while streaming the games. More streamed games and torrents can be found here. Does anyone else here post on Bigsoccer?

yeah, I remember, I think it was the 96 European championship, as soon as Bierhoff scored the winning goal for Germany, they cut right to the Extreme games, no re-cap, no wrap up.
  25. Luther Full Member

    Oliver Bierhoff, I remember him.

Chelsea v. Liverpool today should be good. I am hoping for an upset. I predict a hattrick for Milan Baros.
