Overturning Obamacare would be Judicial Activism by the Supreme Court

That is the way the D's wanted it. There was a severability clause in the original bill that would allow the rest of the bill to stand if the mandate was found unconstitutional, however that was removed (I believe by Pelosi but I could be wrong on that) before the vote. If part goes down it all goes down. Just the way it was written.

if the purpose of the SCOTUS is to rubber stamp political agendas instead of determining the constitutionality of laws then lets just do away with them and the constitution

Deciding if something is constitutional is NOT judicial activism, it's what the fucking court is for.

COMMENTARY | President Barack Obama has warned the Supreme Court about the possible overturning of the federal health care overhaul, according to Fox News. It is not unprecedented for a president to make comments about what the Supreme Court is debating, but his comments point to something unprecedented. As a political scientist, I cannot think of a time when a president made comments to make people think he has no idea how the Constitution works.

Among his comments, President Obama stated how he did not understand how an "unelected group of people" could overturn a law passed by a majority of Congress. It is the job of the Supreme Court to interpret the Constitution and see if particular cases before the justices uphold the content and context of the document. His Oath of Office included the words, "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" so he better have an understanding of the document he is sworn to protect and defend. The "how" he does not understand is the "how" it works.
President Obama went on to say, "I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress." If the Supreme Court strikes down the health care law, it will not be an unprecedented move as the Supreme Court has struck down national laws since the court's inception. I worry about a president who does not understand the history of the court system.
The second part of the previous statement scares me as well. The president pointed out how the health care law was passed by a majority of elected officials. I believe it would be a good idea for the president to familiarize himself with the classic "How a Bill Becomes a Law." After reading, he should realize all bills need to be passed by a majority of Congress to become law. Can we trust a leader who does not apparently understand the system?
Finally, President Obama stated how the health care law is constitutional. I wonder how he can make this determination on his own as he proved in a few short sentences how he does not understand the content or context of the Constitution. Can we reelect a person who does not understand the basics of U.S. government?

We have already reached this point.
They are pretty much there for show only now.

You mean in 2032? That will be the closest time ANYTHING gets done for healthcare again, if even that.

Just because it was passed by the House and the Senate doesn't make it constitutional.

That's your opinion. I think there is a good chance that the democrats over the next couple of election cycles are going to get a lot of control back. Due to this issue and due to all the local Tea Party republicans trying to bring their States back to the 1800s (and worse). There is already a growing blow back and it will only continue to get stronger. Georgia is about to start forcing women with dead babies inside of them to carry them to term if the pregnancy is past 20 weeks because aborting an already dead fetus is somehow wrong in their fucked up little minds. That's just one example of craziness out of the GOP that is going to end up give the DNC a lot of power.

I agree that the GOP is crazy, but don't see Democrats getting over 60 Senate seats anytime soon, and the GOP has set the precedent that every piece of legislation gets filibustered.

The individual mandate is a Republican idea. If it gets thrown out, it because President Obama tried to bipartisan and reach across the isle....I think he's learned his lesson.

We'll see but I won't be shocked if women and young voters start voting against the GOP in larger and larger numbers due to all this recent craziness. Just think about the easy talking points that will come out of "If your mother or sister or wife goes through the horrible tragedy of a late term miscarriage the GOP is the political party that wants to force her to suffer more and longer by keeping that dead fetus inside of her until her body pushes it out on its own." If the DNC can't turn that and all the other local GOP attacks on women and liberty into more Hosue and Senate seats, they don't deserve to hold any seats and should step aside as a party to let an actual progressive party come forward.

The big nanny states are passing laws that say the police can get a DNA sample for minor things like jay walking or speeding. Its already in NY, and NJ is trying to get the same thing done.

What recent craziness? People not wanting to pay for your birth control? Now being against socialism and government force is craziness to the libtard. You still live in this dream world where the democrats are going to save you from the evil republicans.

Can you be anymore of a partisan hack? Obama is a corporatist, the evil republicans didn't make him do anything. Did the scary republicans make him go back on his promise of airing all the talks on cspan? Just keep making excuses for your messiah. The more government involvement in healthcare, the worst things will get. Europe is falling apart economically but you still think its a good idea to follow what they do.
