i don't get no thrill in trying to fill in the holes of a movie cause the writers producers and so on are too lazy to do a good job in the first place

    1) What killed the Engineers on the planet? (we see a load of dead bodies but it's never explained what happened to them).

    2) Why the Engineers would leave a 'star map' on Earth pointing to a planet where they store their biological weapons they're stockpiling to destroy Earth?

    3) The motivations of David don't seem to make much sense, why did he infect Holloway with the black goo when he doesn't even know what it does?

    4) How the scientists don't realize there's more than one ship on the planet. Didn't they think to explore the surface before going straight into the first pyramid they see?

    5) Why Shaw would want to go to the Engineer's homeworld when it's clear they want to kill us all?

    6) How Shaw and David's head manage to hijack a second alien ship without any problems?

    7) How did Fifield/Millburn get lost despite having a 3D map of the area and comms system?

    8) Why did Millburn thinking it's a good idea to stroke an alien snake that looks like a cobra?

    9) Why did Weyland say he was dead in the video briefing then hide himself on the ship? There's literally no logical reason why he would need to do that.

    10) Why the two crewmembers Shaw attacks after she wakes up from David's anesthetic not bothering to chase after her or alert anyone?

    11) How Shaw managed to get into the medical pod room, considering it was in Vicker's private quarters?

    12) No one noticing there's an alien squid growing on their ship?

    13) Why Weyland thinks the Engineers will be able to prolong his life?

Yeah that is a glaring example. Not everyone is a total no life loser like you and knows the number names of the planets in the science fiction movie. "fucktard" - U r a corny fucking homo.

You are still too fucking stupid to grasp English, you fucktard. You didn't make any "example". You just posted stupid shit that had NO point.

Now like I said, go fuck yourself.

I am by NO means an expert. I just happened to have many of the same questions and read up on Ridley Scott's interviews about this stuff. This is just me completely talking out of my ass.

    1) What killed the Engineers on the planet? (we see a load of dead bodies but it's never explained what happened to them).

The alien/weapon/infection somehow got lose and turned on them

    2) Why the Engineers would leave a 'star map' on Earth pointing to a planet where they store their biological weapons they're stockpiling to destroy Earth?

I can't remember myself what they said. They asked the same question in the movie but if they gave an answer it wasn't too clear to me.

    3) The motivations of David don't seem to make much sense, why did he infect Holloway with the black goo when he doesn't even know what it does?

His boss (Weyland) gave him orders to "Try harder". His goal was to see if the alien stuff could heal or prolong Weyland's life. He repeatedly asked Holloway "How far would you go?" and Holloway answered he'd do anything. This essentially gave David the go-ahead to use him as an experiment.

    4) How the scientists don't realize there's more than one ship on the planet. Didn't they think to explore the surface before going straight into the first pyramid they see?

You are using too much logic here. :jj2:

    5) Why Shaw would want to go to the Engineer's homeworld when it's clear they want to kill us all?

Her goal, and the motivation RS had for making the movie, is to answer the question "Why?" She is consumed by the need to answer not only where we came from, but now, why do they want to destroy us?

    6) How Shaw and David's head manage to hijack a second alien ship without any problems?

    See #4

    7) How did Fifield/Millburn get lost despite having a 3D map of the area and comms system?
    8) Why did Millburn thinking it's a good idea to stroke an alien snake that looks like a cobra?

Ugh. That was SOOOO annoying. I guess if it wasn't for characters committing insanely STUPID acts horror/suspense movies would never be longer than 10 minutes.

I read this somewhere and saved it. Too funny...

    9) Why did Weyland say he was dead in the video briefing then hide himself on the ship? There's literally no logical reason why he would need to do that.

The only thing I read was a few comments about how Weyland was famous for keeping things close to the vest. It also was supposed to be some great surprise reveal toward the end.

    10) Why the two crewmembers Shaw attacks after she wakes up from David's anesthetic not bothering to chase after her or alert anyone?

    See #4

    11) How Shaw managed to get into the medical pod room, considering it was in Vicker's private quarters?

As much as I loved the gore of that scene, the whole "I just performed surgery on my nearly dissected body and I am quickly back in action" sequence REALLY pushed my limits of suspended disbelief.

    12) No one noticing there's an alien squid growing on their ship?

    :jj:

    13) Why Weyland thinks the Engineers will be able to prolong his life?

More stupid actions by smart characters.

    So there is no legitimate answer for questions 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13? :)

Agree. At the end I said to my son "this was lame" his reply was I was too picky. Glad to see someone else have the same thoughts.
The Charlize Theron character being the daughter of the old dying man seemed needless. Why even bring it up or have the old guy there at all unless there is a reason for it. Plot wise I see no need for either character in this movie. The Weyland character said that the android is more like a son than anyone else, right in front of his daughter? And why have a young actor in make up playing a very old dying man? There has to be a scene missing that explains that whole dynamic. It seemed like it would have give the entire thing a little more depth.
All of the characters seemed flat and did not provide any reason to give a crap about.
I thought the story was interesting but found the entire thing mediocre at best.
This one had so much potential and just fell flat.

This is only one of the many things that I hated about that movie. It just did not make any sense ... do they want us to fill the blanks and make the story ourselves ...?

That would be dumb. Why can't they write a story with a beginning, middle and an end that makes sense ...

My guess is that they just used the name Alien and did not care too much ...
