Has anyone found that this antenna mod turned out to be a better solution than the Ccrane transmitter?

yea the car antenna is great for home use especially since u can use the magnet to mount it to your air conditioner of metal wimdow frame & it just gets a better signal than the home antenna

I don't think that this will come CLOSE to even the lower powered FMT25 from c. crane. Thats not what this mod will do. This mod is only intended to put a 1/4 wave antenna on the transmitter thats built in to the Sirius receiver.

Its like running a regular FM radio with or without an antenna. If you have a strong enough signal from the radio station, you may not even need to have the radio's whip antenna extended. On the other hand if you are getting a weak signal, antenna fully extended.

The c. crane transmitter can shoot a signal *quite* a distance. This headphone mod for your Sirius receiver just gives you a little bump. In my case (and some other peoples) thats all I needed.

I was going to buy an FM transmitter; I am using a car dock in my home (they were all out of Home docks), and I did the simple "chunk-o-wire out the 'fm-out' jack" and it transmits ALL over the house just great! From what I've read on the web, the CCrane transmitter works pretty shittily before the mod, and even after the mod, it sounds like the CCrane only throws a signal as good as my dock-with-a-wire does... Bottom line (IMO), a dock-with-a-wire is AS GOOD AS the modded CCrane. If you have a dock with an "FM-Out" jack, plug in some wire and save yourself $70...

    Clarification: I have a CLARION

I must point out that I have a CLARION radio and dock --and I remember reading the user reviews on Amazon and Crutchfield that the Clarion has a particularly STRONG signal transmitted out of the dock. People were saying that it transmitted great all thru the house, and even out into the yard!

I too findthe car antenna works better. I can get a solid signal with the car antenna in my garage with the door closed. My home antenna is mounted outside and I occasionally get breakups. Wish I could swap the home antenna for a car antenna...

Every antenna is built with the same technology, i think it could be reason that your car antenna is similarly working as a Tv antenna. In other words you have also save your money...
