    3RD ANNUAL
    TSS-Radio.com Garage Sale!

SFN Sponsor TSS-Radio.com is running their 3rd annual garage sale where they clear out overstock, old, open box, and refurbished items. Poke your head around & maybe you'll find a gem that you need. Keep in mind that Sirius is running a deal for $30 back rebate with free "Best of" & internet stream trials with new subs. That might be better than you get from that class action lawsuit. ;) Taylor has all the rebate details.

When TSS Taylor was in town last month to do the Super Fan Roundtable, I told him I was in the market for a new speaker solution. I was thinking travel take w/ me in my bag but when he poked around the garage & found this bitch, I was like screw the travel speakers & send that sucker over!!! I know the internet stream & "Sirius apps" on your iPad are all the rage now but some times it's just nicer to have a big ass boombox with an actual Sirius satellite radio.

    Bosch PB360D

It's the Deluxe Power Box SIRIUS-ready jobsite radio by Bosch & he had an open box unit that he was kind enough to mail me. This isn't some cheapie radio that you need to be gentle with. It's a full fledged heavy duty jobsite radio that you can drop off the side of the truck & onto the pavement w/o fear of damaging it. It weighs a ton so I don't recommend it for little girls or long walks but if you work w/ your hands & can appreciate a good sturdy tool, you'll be all over it. It has a built-in Bosch tool battery charger (that doubles as portable power), a built-in quad GFCI receptacle, 360 degree audio so you can sit it in the middle of the room, a 6" sub, and multiple audio in ports including a Sirius radio dock. The dock area has a door to protect your Sirius radio, ipod, cell phone, etc.

My boy Stevo is a GC & happens to have the 1st gen version of this radio. I asked him for his opinions & they were ridiculously positive. He loves it, said it takes a beating, and sounds great. I was leery of the GFCI receptacles worrying that a drill or saw might fry the radio but he says he uses them all the time & the radio never gives him trouble. He also uses the battery charger for his screw gun. His was lacking the Sirius dock. According to Taylor, the one's w/ the docks are the 2nd gen more powerful radios. His sounded plenty freaking loud while doing drywall work in Scotty's basement.

You can feel one for yourself @ Home Depot or Lowes but if you want the high powered Sirius ready unit, you'll have to visit Taylor @ TSS-Radio. Click thru to TSS for details & videos.

DISCLAIMER: Yes, these pics could have been nicer but I misplaced my camera. :(

Here's a quick repost of an XM radio I posted about in December but got a hostile response. It's called the XM Snap & after the rebate it's only $18. It's insanely easy to install and start listening right away so it makes to a headache free gift. All you do is stick it in the cig lighter, plug in the antennae, & that's it. There's no dock to mount or suction cups and no wires to run. It's clean. Plus, it comes pre-activated. Once you plug it in, it works. You get all of XM including the best of Sirius for a short free trial. it's like 3 days or something. At some point you need to call the 800 number & sign up for an account. If you pay for a year of service they give you best of Sirius & the internet sub for FREE for 6 months.

Very similar to the XM Snap is the XM Sky Dock. You install it the same way but this one doubles as a dock for your iPhone / iPod Touch. There's a free app you install so you can control the radio. Don't confuse this w/ the SiriusXM internet app. This is an actual XM radio. The iPhone is just acting as a very slick looking color touch screen.

don't whine about commercial ads. TSS-Radio is not only our longest running sponsor but he's been a friend to the Stern community & a great assets to Sirius subscribers with free tech support, replacement out of date parts, accessories, and advice. On top of that, he's a sponsor of Howard's channels, the owner of the Booey pitch ball, and a friend of mine. bottom line, behave & respect the sponsors.

I know it takes the stratus & the starmate. it's a thin space so those old thick units won't fit. I'll go grab some more radios & see what else fits.

This 2nd gen radio looks awesome, it's such a leap from the 1st gen. I've had the 1st gen since it came out and I don't have a bad thing to say about it. Bosch makes some solid products that are worth the money.

Looks pretty bad ass. Is it something I can just plug my iPhone into and run my app? I have an old ass Sirius Radio and it's huge. :(

the sportster 5 fit but didn't light up.

the stilletto 2 fit beautifully & I was able to shut the door.

the stilletto 1 fit as well but I had to pull the battery. with the battery off, it slipped right in & I was able to close the door.

yes, that's what Stevo does but he has the phone laying next to the box instead of keeping it safe behind the door. i don't like that.

there is a cushioned area on the back of the door w/ some velcro where you can strap down your iphone but if you use the iphone to USB cable, the plug is just long enough that you can't shut the door. what I would do is use a 1/8" headphone male to male audio cable. 1 end will need a tight 90 & the other end will need to be straight. with that, you'd be able to strap the phone in to the backside of the door & close it while plugged in. the phone won't be charging but it would be safe & playing.

IMHO, the included 1/8" cable is wrong but the right one is a $3 cable and once you order it online or run to radio shack, problem solved. here's one for $1.50 but I'd keep looking till I found a much shorter one. 6" would be plenty.

    here's a 1' one for $2. it's a slim straight & sure to fit your iphone.

Thanks. I have a shitload of different cables that would probably work including a short 3.5mm headphone and a 3" iPhone USB that is part of a different dock that could work and probably be able to close the media hatch to protect the contents.

Even for a worksite radio this one is really heavy duty. The marketing guys at Bosch made some cool youtube videos proving it and there are also some user submitted ones proving it. This video is pretty cool of them using a Trebuchet to launch the radio way up into the air. http://youtu.be/y-9db1cc21A

It is a heavy 25 lbs. Most of the Sirius boomboxes are about 7 lbs. So some people are a bit shocked by that when they get it.

I want this.....I have no NEED for it, I don't work at a construction side, I don't build things, I don't need a radio that would fall out of a truck I don't own, I won't be in my garage except to do laundry, no heavy work. I want this on my shelves in my great room with my flat screen, and all my other stuff. I want to take my old Sirius boombox off that shelf and replace it with this. Today.:D

Will this rattle my neighbors windows? Because they are in need of a little window rattling payback. :jj:

That thing looks like a monster....awesome.

it kinda does, but if you have kind of a sleek modern look going on it would look great.

The sound is a good bit stronger and louder than the standard Sirius Boomboxes. Besides this the next loudest Sirius Boomboxes would be the SUBX1 and SUBX2 which have been discontinued.
