Rich Jeni and his killer THE HSS uploaded on YT.

I'm trying to be even handed here with OA fans and show an instance where HOWARD may have driven someone to suicide. I forgot to post this one but this deceased vet comic Rich Jeni's last appearance on Stern.



All sorts of speculation surrounded Jeni's depression including Howard's watering down of comics on the show and having turned down Jeni to do the show since. This as well as age 50 hitting him hard enough to feel obsolete in showbiz. I don't remotely share those feelings because I thought Jeni is AS funny and quick as anyone, as he shows here.

Jason Kaplan actually carries around the blood of Jeni on his hairy hands as the ax-man and fall-guy, He was the one that had to give Richard the run around and deception for Gary and Howard throughout that. It almost sounds as if he blames himself for Jeni's death and suicide when he talks about it, but REALLY it's Howard and/or Gary and their shitshow judgements.

I also threw in a funny goofing on Scott the Engineer segment of them playing his kid's band VERTIGO BLUE.

When I saw a Jeni special, he at one point said "and the next thing you know you're sitting a a captain kirk style chair, with all the windows blacked out, in the castle of dr. jerkinstein"

Now I thought this was hilarious, and when i found out he killed himself, I wasn't totally shocked...

Jeni is top 10 stand ups of all time in my opinion. A thousand times better than Artie, no question.

Jeni had problems other than not getting a gig on THSS. Severely depressed people commit suicide. Everything in the world could have been going right for this guy and if he'd been severely depressed, he still would have killed himself. Look at Artie. He seemed to have everything going for him: the job on Stern, a book that was selling well, stand-up gigs, and he still wasn't happy. He had to medicate himself, get fired, and then make a half-assed suicide attempt.

If I were Jeni with my wealth of comedic skills and I tuned into the show and heard Benjy getting air time (when I couldn't) as a "head writer" I would have put a .22 in mouth right on the spot!

I would have said, "F**k you Howard" and taken my comedic skills where they'd be appreciated.

Richard Jeni was a terribly troubled man. He had been diagnosed with severe clinical depression and psychotic paranoia, which means his paranoia was sometimes so severe, he would lose contact with reality. This is from The Smoking Gun website:

"Three months before Richard Jeni shot himself to death in his Hollywood home, the comedian was involuntarily hospitalized after complaining of suicidal depression and saying that he would 'jump off a building,' according to a coroner's report. In late December, Jeni visited the emergency room at Cedars Sinai Hospital in LA and was 'diagnosed with suicidality, homicidality, and depression' and 'placed on 51/50 hold,' which allows medical officials to involuntarily confine a patient for up to 72 hours.
On March 10, with his girlfriend downstairs making breakfast, Jeni, 49, placed the barrel of a .38-caliber Colt Detective Special in his mouth and pulled the trigger. One week earlier, Jeni's girlfriend saw the comedian talking to himself, saying, 'Just squeeze the trigger.' The woman, Amy Hasten, told investigators that due to the stress of Jeni's work schedule, the performer had 'problems with insomnia, paranoia, and high blood pressure.' Additionally, the report says that the performer had a history of schizophrenia."


To even remotely imply that a man with this kind of psychological history committed suicide because he couldn't get on a radio show is laughably ridiculous.

I don't care what story you copy and pasted I am absolutely positive Rich Jeni tuned into the HSS after he was turned down a third time in a row and heard shit-stain Benjy on the air knee-deep in unfunny bullshit and killed himself right on the spot. Who are you kidding, you have an entire paying audience on the verge of doing that as we speak!

And it's not just me, JASON KAPLAN has gone into this rap a myriad of times on the air when Gary brags about turning people down or fans complain about shitty redundant guests. I'm also one small step away from blaming the show for George Carlin's death too AND Greg Giraldo's, whaddya think about that???
