I hope you hold your breath till that happens, but oh wait it won't but you can still hold your breath anyway dipshit. Bookmark whatever you want, I never supported any fucking war we've been in, especially the 2 started by the conservatard messiah. Who in their right mind would be for war with Iran? Except of course the hacks who get behind any idea with an R next to it. I've put blame on Obama for plenty so don't give me this Obama-bot bullshit.

Do we agree that military spending should be on the chopping block?
  3. Drizden Full Member

I do, but democrats and republicans that are corporate controlled all support the same foreign policy that requires spending trillions on military.

Then why do you support Republicans if they are all the same?

Ron Paul isn't corporate owned. The sad truth is more democrats are corporate owned than republicans. The reason for that is because democrats can get away with stuff that republicans can't. Obama can go to war and its called a peace mission. Bush does it and its called an illegal war. Obama gives Haliburton no bid contracts and its just a blurb in the paper, Cheney does it and there are protestors outside the gates of his home.

How many bases does it take in Germany to provide for the common defence?

What exactly happens to those overseas bases if we close them ?? How much money do you expect that it will save ? Unless those who are serving on those bases, in Germany or elsewhere are discharged from the Armed Services, its really not going to save all that much money... And in the short run, it will probably cost more to close those bases and move everyone back. Not to mention the significant dilution of American influence that would follow, which would ultimately cost us much more than what we pay to keep those bases overseas. It's a nice and easy talking point to say that we should just close those bases and somehow magically save billions...but it really doesn't work like that.

What a sorry defense for big government spreading its tentacles across the globe. It must be nice to just say shit and hope it's true.

How do you know "it will probably cost more to close those bases"?

How do keeping American troops in sovereign nations dilute our influence? What are we protecting in Germany or Japan? In fact, the argument can be made that we might have greater leverage if we don't have an indefinite presence in sovereign countries.

Once again, the so-called small government GOP wants cuts for citizens but increased spending for defense contractors.

Ohh, I see.....the pie in the sky left wing view is that closing down bases, moving thousand of troops and families back to the US, continuing to pay them (salary and benefits), and housing them on existing US bases will be free...just like everything else in your world.... Wonderful !!

Removing troops from those countries will dilute our influence genius... who is going to fill the vacuum ? China ? I guess that must be ok with you. Being the human rights champion that you and all leftwing loons are......
  11. zimmie Full Member

are you talking about the 16,000 defense contractors Obama has replaced the troops with in Iraq?
  12. Stickman Full Member

Wow, what the hell happened to you while you were gone? You used to have at least reasonable sounding arguments, even if they were mostly Rush talking points.

First, veterans get benefits whether they're here or overseas, so how does keeping them on foreign bases save us money?
Second, if we left a Japanese base, do you really think China is just going to move in? Talk about childish and stupid. Your ramblings are deperate and incoherent. You used to be somewhat sane.

Did Obama get it down to 16k? That's a fraction of what was there when Bush was running that clusterfuck.

They are all a part of the list of countries where the U.S. Military is currently deployed. This is from global policy dot org They got the information from the Department of Defense. Note the information is from about 3 years ago, but I don’t have up to date access to the DoD, and if I did the information certainly wouldn’t get posted here. Nevertheless I’m pretty sure this is a fairly accurate representation of the U.S. Military throughout the world.

thankfully Bush signed the SOFA agreement before leaving office, if not, Obama would have done there what he's done in Afghanistan...added troops there to be killed, and agreed to have us nation building there for another 12 years...

Are you being this stupid on purpose ???

The POINT is that closing those bases won't be much of a savings at all, if any. And in the long run, will cost the US in dollars and in something much more important....influence. Idiots like you and Ron Fraud pretend that closing these bases will somehow magically save billions upon billions of dollars..and keep blathering on and on about their 'costs'...but as usual with your simplistic nonsense, a little closer look tells a different story (go figure)... The fact is that little or no money will be saved and much will be lost.

No one is saying that China is going to move into vacated US bases. I think your reading comprehension level has digressed further (it's hard to believe that it would be possible, but..) However, if the US exits Japan, and Korea and **insert foreign country here**, a power vacuum will be created.... it will be filled by someone.. Do you think China is going to let that opportunity pass ?

Either you are being purposely stupid, or you are out of your depth here and really have no place in this discussion beyond your programmed nonsense and near illiterate diatribes.

In how many of those countries does the US have only token representation of military personel ?? Or does a few soldiers equate to the spreading of the evil empire......
  23. tourette_ticker Full Member

We have some military staff in all countries that we have embassies. This looks more like that list than places we have actual bases.
