A few suggestions (I've commished a couple keepers leagues for about 10 years). We've tweaked and tweaked and this seems to be the best system:

Rosters: 17 man roster (assuming a 12 team league)

You start: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 TM DEF (NO flex positions. RBs are already ridiculously overvalued ..... flex positions just make them even more valuable which is absurd.)

1pt for every 10 yds rushing or receiving, 1 pt for every 20 yds passing, 6 pts for TDs rushing/receiving/or passing (we also give bonus pts for longer scoring plays), -2pts for an INT or Fumble, ....... I'll go into more detail if requested to do so for PK and DEF.

Some might object to giving 6pts for passing TDs when most systems give 4pts. We've found that doing that tends to undervalue QBs. You want a fantasy system to mimic actual football as much as possible, and in real football if you don't have a QB, you're done. Since each team only starts 1 QB, you have to increase their value as much as you can or else they're worthless.

As stated, 12 teams in 3 divisions. Each division opponent plays each other twice (first 3 games and last 3 games) and all others once. Playoffs include the 3 division winners plus 1 wildcard. Playoffs start Week 15 (#1 vs WC & #2 vs. #3) ..... championship game Week 16 (no game Week 17 because too many key players are benched)

I've got a pretty good system for heading off/addressing grievances. First, I'll post a league "constitution" with all the rules up front. I've been through almost every conceivable issue, so the list of rules I've complied is pretty complete. That cuts out most bitching if it's written out in back & white before the draft even takes place.

I don't allow league wide votes to veto trades (which is a huge source of disputes). The commish reviews all trades using the criteria, "Do both owners truly believe they are improving their team by making this deal". If the answer is yes, the trade is approved. If it's questionable, the trade goes up for a league wide vote. If it's obvious cheating, it gets voided without a vote (and the owners get warned or just booted).

I'll need a vice-commish to review my trades and to consult with on disputes. If the commish and vice-commish make a trade, the trade automatically goes up for a vote.

Well, first things first. Let's finalize who's playing. I agree that 12 teams is the max you wanna have.

If you can't already tell, I'm a fantasy football nerd. I take it very seriously (probably too seriously). We need 12 guys who are really into it. I'm the type where I fight right up until the end even if I'm out of contention early.

I've done chat board leagues before. Generally 1 or 2 guys don't even show up for the draft. Another 1 or 2 draft and never do anything else. Then 5 more just give up on controlling their team once they fall 2 games below .500.

If you can't stick with it, please don't join. Free up a spot for someone who wants to see it through until the end.

Once we get the illustrious 12, I will throw out dates to do a live draft till we find one that works for everyone. If we can't find one that works for everyone, we will still have a live draft, and the ones who can't show up will just have to be set to auto-draft.

Understood BB..You may have to bring me up to speed on the Live Draft procedure...if it's complicated, then just set mine to auto...I don't want to fuck up the process...
