Should Howard hire a new head writer and fire Benjy?

maybe Benji would be slightly more tolerable if he wasn't in the studio.
As it is now the show comes to a grinding halt each and every time he has the opportunity to participate in the show..

I would have liked to see Benjy go several years ago, but that ship has sailed. The current cast will be the final cast.

Artie did not KILL on every roast. The Daniel Carver Roast was the worst freaking comedy I have heard out of his fat hack mouth.
How many times did he say "look at you on your outfit"???

Unfunny/lame is Benjy's forte.

Howard brought Benjy in to the studio because he fits into the Cult of Stern.

Howard's formidable insecurity means that he only surrounds himself with creatures that do not make him feel self-conscious and will not challenge him personally nor professionally. They must also be weak and financially dependent on Howard so that consciously and unconsciously, he is always reassured in knowing that he has ultimate control and leverage. He never has to worry. The cult is self-reinforcing.

Lastly, because he is assured of not having his comfort-zone disturbed and of their loyalty to him, he can "create" without worry. He can have "fun" in the studio. Remember, that was the stated reason that Artie was chosen, they all had "fun" with him, at least, until it wasn't fun.

Since Howard still feels like a freakish mental-case on the inside (thanks to Ben & Ray), he's "good" at spotting these creatures because he identifies with their own unresolved freaky self-view.

Anyone disagree that Benjy is a complete freak, inside and out?
Developmentally, he is completely stunted, frozen in adolescence.

Benjy gets some fucked up shit in below the radar that Howard either isn't smart enough to see or choosed to ignore. I think this is one of the reason H shuts him down so much. Problem w/ Benjy is he's a really nice guy. It's a different kinda thing and the only way he's found to work it into the show is the weird schtick. They should give him a little more rope and see what happens. Nothing could make the show worse at this point.

Hiring writers would be best for the show, but I believe Stern Enterprises is more on milking the brand. The budget for the "tapes team" is probably larger than the budget for the writing staff. And Howard TV has more staff, and I've seen more professional YouTube videos of cats playing the piano.

If Mitt Romney did a leverage buy out of the Stern Show, he would concentrate on core-competencies,

1. Lay off the tapes team, outsource to India
2. Lay off the Howard TV team (see if Scott still votes Republican after he gets the pink slip and starts getting welfare benefits)
3. Lay off producers/writers/technical staff of superfluous shows
4. Layoff current upper management and sales staff, replace them with 1 Harvard MBA new grad.
5. Consolidate all lawsuits into one huge one against everybody in the world, save lawyer fees.
6. Cancel all non-HSS shows
7. Make Sal and Richard get back to licking taint (OK as long as they don't want to be married)
8. Cut benefit package - Gary's "teet" must cost a fortune, and JD doesn't need his meds, he's funnier off them.

The majority would agree Benjy is not funny. Jackie would be horrible today. Just listen to his awful show. Some genius telling other people's jokes. Artie is naturally funny and entertaining. The only other replacement I could agree with would be Gilbert Gottfried.

Benji is an AWFUL comedy writer in every possible way (IE: NOT FUNNY). He is NOT a positive influence on the comedy value of the show. He sucks, get rid if him!

Howard will never fire Benjy because he probably pays him 150k a year now since he got his raise..and thats a 1/4 of what he paid artie and a 1/8 of what he paid jackie.

I believe in the "big 1/2 billion" deal, Howard Stern's production company got the money, and they decided how to spend it. Other than the Fab Four, who got personal service contracts (Robin, Gary, Artie, Fred). Everybody else works for the Stern Production company, and are sub-contractors to Sirius, and leverage some of Sirius HR resources. This probably has a ton of tax benefits for Sirius and Stern.

Howard doesn't set pay, he delegates to someone like Sabian.
