welcome to last week. I'm not too concerned about it considering Friday's show should be a best of the week type thing. He will probably be on the air more overall because remember there shouldnt be as many commercials as there is now.

it's old news and it sucks. also will have 10 weeks of vacation when he has 8 now.

this translates him into working 168 days a year or less than half a year. the average working man with 3 weeks vacation works 245 days.

Oh well, capitalism at it's finest.

Add those off Fridays to the 10 weeks of vacation and that's the equivallent of 18 weeks off per year, or 4.5 months. Those aren't the kind of numbers that bring in new subscribers.

yeah, I wasn't happy about this either...you would think, with the money he will be making and he says that he wants to change the face of radio, that he would go all out. he is also asking people to pay for it too...

I am not saying that he will not go all out, but that is not a good sign that he will only be working 4 frigging days a week. I don't want to hear best-of once a week no matter how good it is.

    I don't know...we'll see what happens.

Tough to build a rythym with that much time off though. Plus if Howard thinks he's getting hammered by terrestrial radio now, wait until they figure out that he's off every third month. This is going to played up big leading to his switch.

Howard better thicken up that skin of his, cause the blasts will be coming fast and furious.

(I'm still going to Sirius though. Howard and the Packers? No brainer)

i don't know how many of the old KROCK show's he'll be able to bring over.. but at least during best-of shows shit will be uncensored. that is.. if anything even exists of the old shows after tom has chopped them into pieces.

he'll bring over 0. don't get your hopes up on too many sound effects either.

As Howard gets closer to retirement all of us Stern junkies will have to be weaned slowly off our daily fix. His lengthy vacation schedule and the introduction of the "Best Of Stern" was the beginning. This is just the next phase of the process. Live with it. Someday we won't have him around at all to listen to.

Howard said he bought the rights to his tapes in 1994. He did it because he saw how Dave Letterman was screwed over by NBC when he started the Late Show. They will be able to play the KROCK tapes and effects.

Well I bought Sirius and I really like it. Raw Dog rules. I'll continue to use usenet though for archives or if I miss a show.

Exactly. Leno is on every fucking night-but look at the milquetoaste bullshit he offers.

it sucks but 4 days of uncensored fun is better than 5 days of bleeps

I'm a huge Howard fan, but this just turned me off to getting Sirius...4 days a week...the guy makes $500million for this...and so on...it's ludacris...but at least we'll have SFN..

I dont blame him for having off on Friday. Who the hell here wants to work on a friday????????

Also, Stern has been doing this crap for 20 years, getting up at 4am... he's not getting any younger.

    VIVA LA SFN!!!

Four days is better then none, which is where he was headed if he stayed on terrestrial radio.

You guys are more optimistic about the commercials thing than I am. I think Mel Karmizan will pressure Howard into putting more commercials into the show than you think. I may not be 20 minute breaks, but it will be much more than you are anticipating...maybe not all at first, but after a few months, just watch.

The Packers? :eek:mfg: :fuckyou: I thought you're originally from Chicago.

For a guy who wants to "change the face of radio," working 4 days a week and loading the Show up with commercials doesn't sound promising. I still don't get the commercial thing. When I heard the Sirius announcement, I was excited at the prospect of commercial free Stern AT LAST. But instead, we'll be listening to more ads for fuckin' Trimspa, and get to pay for it.

    Premium Stations on Satellite?

One further issue is that it's likely we'll have to pay an extra fee for the Show-- even beyond the basic satellite fee. For uncensored broadcast over the air, I think the only way to prove you wanted Howard's broadcast is to specifically pay for it (separately)... like one of the premium channels on Cable tv.

I'm sure there will be arguments that basic satellite service (as installed in cars, which is becoming a standard) should not allow uncensored broadcasting.

No way Howard will be able to shake FCC and Ex-Terrestrial competitors that easily. Someone's going to have hell to pay, first. Unfortunately, that hell may be our final radio bill.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong, like Dennis Miller. I hope so, but we'll see.
