    Laying the ground work early?

Howard Stern 'pretty sure' he won't do a second season of 'America's Got Talent

Howard Stern is already sick of doing double duty.

Howard Stern is feeling the burn.
Stern is in his first week of back to back live broadcasts on both "America's Got Talent" and the Howard Stern Show, and he's already prepared to throw in the towel for next season. Stern revealed Monday that "AGT" producers had already asked him back for Season 8, but said he was waiting to see how he coped with working double duty.
Stern talked about his experience on Wednesday morning's satellite radio broadcast, saying:
“After yesterday, I’m pretty sure I’m not coming back another season. I’ll tell you the truth. I love doing ‘America’s Got Talent’. If I didn’t do this job [atSirius XM] and just did that, it would be fine."
Granted, the past 24 hours have been particularly brutal for Howard Stern, and not just because of his schedule. Just hours before Stern appeared on Tuesday night's live episode of "AGT," hisbeloved bulldog Bianca died. Stern fought back tears throughout Wednesday morning's satellite radio broadcast.
Stern also said that the time commitment for "AGT" has been greater than anticipated across the board:
“Whatever they told me the time commitment was going to be? It’s so much more.”
Stern said he's been unable to take even the most private of moments for himself this week:
    “I sh*t yesterday? I was on the phone while I was sh**ting.”
"America's Got Talent" reveals their latest Season 8 semifinalists Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m. on NBC.

He is fine on the show but the show is just god awful. I watch 5 minutes and it becomes so freaking boring.
I guess if it was the only way to get Stern, that would be one thing but he is so much better when he is the focus.

He wanted to do it, he did it once, now he's over it and wants to relax in his mansion. Nothing wrong with that! :cheer:

He’s not hungry for success anymore, an old man set in his ways.
Most other people would be bending over backwards for the opportunity.

I am sure if the ratings were 16 million a night..like he and Hein predicted..he would be back. This was his way out of radio..it backfired...now he is crawling back to Sirius...not surprised.

He's setting up his exit, NBC sunk a fortune into promoting him on AGT, moving the show and paying his salary. It just didn't work and while NBC won't even bring it up until AGT's season is over, Howard sees the writing on the wall and wants a graceful exit.

I love the spin on his comments..“Whatever they told me the time commitment was going to be? It’s so much more.” “I sh*t yesterday? I was on the phone while I was sh**ting.”

Not one mention of ratings all week, yet he is already pointing fingers. After his exit..mark my words..he will start to blame NBC for the low ratings...the "moving of time slots", the "editing of his comments"...just more BS. The facts that "Mr. America's Judge" needs to gather are that America just doesn't care about him...and even though his ego won't allow himself to digest that, he is going to have to at some point.

Jon Hein and Howie predicted 17 million viewers...remember that number people....because it's the funniest comment that has been made on THSS all year.

He is terrible at evaluating talent- AGT has nothing real for its contestants to win 25K ayear for 20 years is not an incentive.

Have any of the previous winners gone on to more success? I know some of the American Idol winners have but I'm not aware of any AGT people

Funny he doesn't thank them for moving the whole production to the East Coast to make it easier for him to be America's Judge.

I'm sure that it is just a negotiating tactic - if AGT doubles his salary he'll be back.

Buchwald could sell this to NBC........Howard will bring back the audience that you lost; but first you have to double his salary.

    I'm not trolling really,

However Howard hasn't aged well. It is just a fact he is just odd looking; tall, thin, weird buffont hair, and he looks sickly. In Fact if you're an average viewer and remember what stern looked like when the Private Part book to movie era this guys is totally different. Howard not being a handsome guy to begin with has not aged well despite what all his sycophantic Hollywood friends and people on the show tell him. He is downright repulsive to the general public and when you factor in the fact the NBC is the WORST network on Tv and how they counter program themselves(the constant moving of the show) Howard really never had a chance with his current look. Truth be told he should have done a show 14 years ago and if in fact ABC had offered to make him the successor to Barbra Walters like he mentioned he pretty much screwed his last chances of going mainstream. Been a nice a career Howard, now quit fnnn around and put a STRONG last 2 years in on the Sirus Show and go out like a Champ....

Sorry but AGT is not what is used to be...don't blame him for not going back! yuck!

Probably just a negotiating move, you don't want to appear too eager when going into negotiations. Hasn't listening to the man during contract negotiation times over the past 20 years taught you guys anything?

14 years ago the idea of being on a show like this would have repulsed Howard as much as it does the majority of his audience.

one has to consider that there is a finite amount of talent in this country. with 53 years of american idol, 38 seasons of agt and a couple years of x factor... it seems all the good stuff has been parsed through. maybe if they changed the title to "america's talent is slightly better than mediocre" there wouldn't be as many fans feeling that the show overpromised and under delivered
