nice dude, I saw that same show too at the Palladium in Worchester, MA. I caught the last few songs from Death Angel but caught all of Testament and Anthrax, still one of my favorite shows to this date. Seems like all the good metal shows go to that venue when New England is on the agenda, saw Summer Slaughter tour there back in august with Whitechapel, Black Dahlia Murder, Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, Oceano, Powerglove. Plan on going to see Behemoth there in may which I am fucking so psyched for.

last concert i think i went to was clutch, spirit caravan, and, crap . . . liguid something-or-other. clutch and spirit caravan were awesome!

pretty much too old for going to these kinda shows anymore -- at least it feels that way!

I hear you, I'm only 28 but it seems like the average age of kids at shows these days is like 17 or 18, if I go in the pit I usually end up hurling them across the room when theyre trying to do their karate dancing bullshit.

i think testament's another one that always manages to put out a pretty damn good album. also, overkill's had a few albums i didn't TOTALLY get into, but they usually put out some pretty decent stuff too.

Not a big metal fan but since this is a metal thread maybe someone can answer this, back when Artie was on the show he often referenced some lyrics of a metal song that his buddy would sing
and I always wondered who he was talking about, they went something like this: "they lowered me into that hole on the ground!"

Loudness was more glam than anything during the thunder in the east and lightning strikes era. They were the japanese motley crue. That said i loved their first two or three albums.

I mostly stopped listening to newer music around 1992 or so. As soon as the whole seattle thing started i lost interest. I hated soundgarden, pearl jam and especially fucking nirvana and it made me hate music, how sloppy and no talent it had become. What's left of rock today really reflects that as well. Alice in chains gets a pass, i didn't like them at the time cuz i lumped them in with pearl jam but in reflection they weren't half bad.

There used to be a time you could tell a band within 3 seconds just by the singer. Rob halford was instantly recognizeable, you knew ratt or motley crue or def leppard, queensryche, fastway etc when you heard them. today you could play me five different bands and they all have the same crap singer if you ask me.

Anyhow for strictly 80's metal or hard rock you can't go wrong with Helloween or Savatage, ministry etc. for just heavier stuff. Alot of the lesser mainstream acts were so much better than crap like metallica.

Type o negative rules em all though. Kind of the Queen of the metal, dark rock whatever you wanna call em.

there's a good many bands i can still tell by just the sound or vocalist. i think the thing that's different is there's just a TON of bands out there, and nowadays, you can hear just damn near all of 'em. i kinda like that availability, but i do kinda miss the excitement of going to grab a new CD and checking out the insert. had a record & tape traders right by our house, and was damn sad when they closed down.

If anyone hasn't heard of Misery Index you should check them out, featuring ex-members of Dying Fetus. Fast, technical, brutal as fuck.
