Have you experienced this / or tried a different brand? That would be my first guess....some of that mil- surplus stuff is ok . some -not so much....I have a 5 gallon bucket full of mil -surplus '06 I can only shoot through a bolt action.... I have a bunch of 7.62 x 39 stuff too....had a few do the same in my sks....

Nice gun. The SKS is very under-rated. Cheap, ultra-reliable and IMHO, father of the AK-47.

I had a Yugo but moved it on because mine had a 30 pound trigger pull and I couldn't hit a damn thing with it.

(the picture of the ammo) The 2 rounds on the ends are normal. The 5 in the middle were all the 2nd round (after the 1st round fires, the 2nd round is driven straight into the barrel face, crushing it.

(I think I found the problem..[thank you internet].)... The wood stock doesn't play nice with the tapco 20 rd mags I have. It's squeezing the mags just enough to fuck up everything. I have to sand/file down the inside of the stock so the mags are a loose fit. Right now, they are pretty snug.

That ammo is supposedly very good stuff, real military issue but it is corrosive, so you have to clean accordingly.

And I see you already identified your problem, which is the number one problem folks run into to with the SKS and that is the duckbill mags, although tapco is supposedly the best of the lot. It's rare for an SKS to malfunction using the stock 10 round magazine. You could load that 10-round mag pretty quick with a stripper clip.

I used to keep about twenty stripper clips loaded. I polished the rails that held the cartridges with a felt bob and some 220 grit paste. Fed the rounds pretty smooth.

I had the same Yugo you have, a Norinko and a Russian. Sold them all off last year during a safe purge. I do want to get another Norinco. I miss my old one. :toung2:

Probably lucky those rounds didn't chamber after setting the bullet back like that. That can ramp up pressure and cause serious grief. I wouldn't shoot those rounds in that condition.
