I thought it had flop written all over it but the American people spoke and said 'we want to laugh at this random raunchy teddy bear movie.' Pretty cool. 88% of viewers like it. I want to see it.

Like I said a week ago, this forum is completely out of touch with reality. Fucking trolls will jump at any chance to start a negative thread.
The movie is about a teddy bear who smokes weed, drinks beer, snorts coke, talks shit and loves chicks. How can it possibly go wrong?

    It couldn't have been funnier.

Maybe it stalled at points, but this is (unfortunately) as funny as movies get these days! Enjoy it, folks!

There are so many reasons the movie TED shouldn't work, and it definitely could have been a one joke movie.
Ted deserves praise for working on so many levels.
In 1985, near Boston lonely John Bennett receives a teddy bear for Christmas,he can electronically say a few words, but
John adores the plush toy.One night he makes a wish for Ted to become real and that they become friends forever.
Wish granted due to a falling star and big laughs follow.

Director/writer Seth MacFarlane blends a raunchy buddy comedy, irreverent fractured fairy tale, and even a bit of a thriller
with a lot of hilarity and heart.
Tons of praise should be heaped upon Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis who in reality filmed their scenes with only a pair of eyes
and a frame of Ted to look upon.
Surprising celeb cameos, one liners galore, and about a thousand pop culture references add to the films hilarious moments.
Every joke doesnt work, and i like Joel McHale but he was basically portraying the same character from the film
    What's Your Number?
Still you know a film has done something right when the audience swoons over and comes to care about the foul mouthed,
    pot smoking Ted.
Even a subplot involving a kidnapping that starts off a bit stiff and grating becomes hilarious due to Ted's one liners and
some ultra creepy performances from Giovanni Ribisi, as a crazed stalker who idolized Ted as a child, and Aedin Mincks as his son
    Robert.
Im looking forward to the DVD which will hopefully include some hilarious outtakes and scenes that were cut.
    Scale of 1-10 an 8½

good movie, very funny mcfarlane is kind of a one note guy, its a hell of a note but i expected this would be different than family guy. its pretty much the exact same kind of humor (weird references, cut-away gags,etc..) . kind of expected something more like what mike judge did, where he went and did movies that were great but a completely different type of humor than beavis and butthead. oh well. if you like family guy you will probably like ted, if you dont you probably will hate ted.

SFN fails again... Wahlberg went on Howard and his movie went #1, good thing he didn't choose Opie show nobody would have known it was out!

Seen it this morning.. Theater was still about half full at noon on a monday.. was sold out last night at 8 and 10.. Was pretty funny but it gets all sappy at the end and they try to make you cry.. But I'd say it was worth checking out

Great movie. Arguably one of the best party scenes on film.

It opened number one. Over 50 million. I get people don't get Seth Macfarlane, but he's doing pretty well for himself. Not sure what you have against him. Sure the Cleveland show is total shit but Family Guy is pretty funny. Chicken vs. Peter is as good as it gets.

Apache helicopters are awesome but the A-10 Thunderbolt rules all!

well this explains it. all the people that WOULD have watched agt were out watching ted. that's why the agt ratings were not as high as expected!

Wow has anything been more incorrect in the whole canon of Stern history than this thread?

The studio made a good decision to move up the release date from July 13th to June 29th. If they'd left it for July 13th, it would have only had a week to draw an audience before The Dark Knight Rises' release on the 20th. Now, there's a solid three weeks against so-so competition (Spider-Man, Savages, some Katy Perry movie), so it should hold up well until Batman arrives. I'm estimating Ted could rake in up to $150 million in it's theatrical run.

spiderman is so so competition. Are you on crack? and you forget Ice age.. That will do huge with families

    The movie was fucking hilarious.

I think Spiderman will do well. So will Ice Age. However, I do not think the Ice Age crowd will affect Ted's audience. Spiderman could possibly but I don't think Ice Age will.
