The NHL And SFN Fantasy Hockey Thread

I like The Penguins, but this has been a horrible year, but the future looks bright. Let's talk about any teams, games, free agency, the draft, trades, Olympics, regular season, playoffs, fantasy hockey, whatever. The New NHL has been great. Any thoughts???

Love the new NHL, grew up in Chicago and watched the Hawks. I hate them now. I root for the Ducks. At least they put most the games on TV. DOn't really care for the pros in the Olympics. I hope the Canes win it all if the Ducks can't make it.

Sabres all the way.. They skate better than any team I have seen all year long!

We can always hope that this will finally be the year where Buffalo gets a championship. They certainly have surprised me this year as I wasn't very optomistic going into the season. Miller if the fucking man though and it looks like they might have finally figured out how to beat Ottawa.

I had a chance to visit The Pond and The Staples Center. They are both great arenas. I love the shootouts; it really makes the game pretty intensive, but they won't use it in the playoffs.

    Thank God.

Games were much more intense without the stupid shootout IMO. It's like ending a baseball game with a homerun derby instead of extra innings ... dumb!

xciceroguy: Did you see my thread on the Ducks changing their colors next year?

Ducks fan here too, its great that we finally have the Kings number. The games are great here when these teams play each other. We go to the Pond and Staples for these teams. I think the Ducks will make the 8th spot. Im not sure what they are holding there cap space money for, we need another player that can score. Im not sure who is available thogh.

Sabres are my favorite east coast team as well. They are doing great!!

I like the shoot out, a tie was the stupidest thing a sport can have, someone has to win!!

Big time Rangers fan right here. Very happy with the way things are going for us this season. Excited about the Olympics too although I don't think USA has a great chance this year. I think Canada is going to take it. As for the new NHL, I both like and dislike it. The higher scoring, open end game is nice, as well as teams being able to come back from two/three goal decificts. I don't like some of the "soft" penalties being called. I play hockey and I know it's pretty hard to change tendacies, especially normal contact.

Long-time Habs fan here (sorry... from Canada... in my blood *heh*).

I like the new rules, for the most part. I am glad that ties are finally gone, although I wish that at the end of regulation they didn't give them any points at all --- give the winner 2 points and the loser 0 points...
  11. DirtyCache Full Member

Agreed, I say that the game should be decided by the shoot out with who get the points.
  12. xciceroguy Full Member

Yes i saw that. I wish they would change the name all together but i guess we gotta live with the ducks.

It's nice to see the Sabres playing so well, hopefully it lasts, and they can get healthy with Briere and Connolly. Also wondering if they'll be sending Biron or Noranen packing. I wasn't a big fan of the shootout, still not that big a fan, but it is exciting. And I can't wait to watch olympic hockey, the rink is bigger, and only the best players in the world, should be good. Good to see some smaller teams do well too like Nashville and Carolina.

    It could be worse.

You could be a Jackets fan like myself and never have sniffed the playoffs.

See ya'll in the lottery for Kessel or Erik Johnson.
  16. Dr. Fong Full Member

    Except Ryan Miller.
  17. WhatRUSaying Full Member

The Blues and Pens will battle for number 1 even if there is a draft lottery. So The Mighty Ducks will be called The Ducks next year? I heard they were going to change colors, if yes what colors, and any different logos?

When Pittsburgh get the First pick in 2006 and select Kessel, then they'll have Crosby, Malkin and Kessel. Too bad they don't play D cause that's what the Pens need. Guess Johnson would be a better pick. Go Devils....
  19. DirtyCache Full Member

I heard Orange and Hunter Green but thats a rumor of course cause no one knows yet!!
  20. WhatRUSaying Full Member

Orange is a good color. The Ducks are playing well, but a difficult loss in Edmonton, and 2 tough games in Calgary and Vancouver. LA is struggling really bad now.

I know most people probably didn't like it, but I kind of liked the Fox Glowing Puck several years ago. Any positive opinions on that, probably not?

This deal with Tocchet could be serious and Gretzky's wife could be involved too.

I am a big devils fan myself. I moved to DC last year and have sorta lost interest in hockey. I then visited my parents and couldn't stop watching the devils. I will always be a fan.

I just got into Hockey three and a half years ago (One of them being the Lockout year) so I dont remember a glowing puck, sorry!

The puck had a blue glow and, when someone shot, there was a red streak that followed the puck (FoxTrax).
