I understand the situation in Pittsburgh, but they have not played great defense in a while. I think the absence of Niskanen has hurt. This team is really content on meeting the Flyers it seems like. With the Rangers winning last night, having a 5 point lead, but really is 6 with the tiebreaker I think the Pens know they will be the 4 or 5 seed. Interesting enough the Pens and Flyers play eachother twice in the last 6 days of the season with them both in Pittsburgh.
The Caps situation really makes no sense. They are so much more talented than anyone in their division and they are not in first place is just odd. No question about the Sabres. They might not be the most talented team, but they are playing like a team. The Pens get them in Buffalo tomorrow night and that won't be easy. Pens got blown out earlier there.

Thanks for the info on Vokoun. I have not followed them too much this year, but is Vokoun having a bad year. I really thought he was going to carry this team very far. The Caps have been put in a situation where they need to win most of their games or they are going to need a lot of help down the stretch.

As for the West last night, the Flames and Avs are in bad situations with the amount of games they have played and the amout of points they currently have. Big wins for the Kings and Stars last night. The Ducks did not do any favors for the Sharks last night too, but the Sharks still in that 8 spot.

Four of the Pacific Division will be battling for 3 spots with one of them getting the crown.

Of the 4 teams which team do you guys think does not get in?

The Sharks play the Kings twice and the Stars and Coyotes once, so they could dictate who gets in.

I am thinking the Coyotes will be the odd team out, but I see this going to the bitter end. What a race!!!!!!!!!

I forgot to bring up the playoff picks. We have been doing this for 4 years. Do you guys have interest in it this year?

Well.... I've seen Bantam House League teams that play better than the Leafs this last couple months.... Beyond embarrassment...

As usual, I've gotta pick my "playoff teams" hahaah shiiiiiit.... Ol' St. Lou The Blue and The Pens this year...

I called Boston vs. Vancouver last year, so I hope my luck continues...

Good Luck to Your teams guys!

Maple I think if there is interest we will do our picks each round. There is a point system that I have used the past few years. Definitely come here for that.

The Leafs just don't seem interested. The Habs made some changes at the top. Do you see the Leafs making some changes? If yes, what are the rumblings in Toronto?

The only good news about being eliminated is having nothing to play for, getting a good draft pick, and of course that spoiler role!

He's been so-so. Kind of inconsistent but good enough that the team should have more wins. They haven't given him much room for error in terms of goal production.

I think it may be high time to go back to some of our posts in September........ I think my predictions were pretty solid, besides saying that St. Louis would miss the dance. I did pick Florida to make it, though, I recall.
  8. mikesbandit Full Member

Thanks. I really mean no offence to you when I slam the Leafs, you seem like a good guy; you come in and take your lumps like a man. It's just that team of yours, geezus; what a disaster. Not one piece to the puzzle there.
  9. mikesbandit Full Member

just heard on the radio that Sid got hit in the face with an errant puck shot by some minor leaguer on the Islanders. Uh-oh.
  10. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

Ignorance huh? The Leafs are currently the 5th worst team in hockey which gives them an 8.1% chance of winning the lottery and picking 1st overall. The Leafs are getting destroyed again tonight and the Isles who are the 6th worst team are beating the Pens so they will still be a lottery team after tonight.

I'm not jealous of anything involving the Toronto Maple Leafs.

My biggest problem is I don't wear the homer glasses for any of my teams like alot of fans do and I can see things clearly. I'm sorry you couldn't then but maybe you can now. The Leafs stink. Burke has done a horrible job. They could've had a legit rebuild with kids like Seguin but Burke wanted a quick fix and wasn't willing to show patience. The sad part is if you guys did a rebuild you would be on the up swing now instead of the dysfunctional mess you have now. Now you are stuck with guys like Kessel (one dimensional), Phaneuf (HORRIBLE defenseman) and no goaltending. At least you have LUPUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll give you credit though. You are the last Leafs fan standing and the fact that you are still here is respectable.

I think I may have picked the Panthers to finish last in the division.

But I did avoid that Blue Jackets bandwagon that seemed to be fully loaded after they got Carter.
  12. Anus Full Member

I might've had the Blues at or near the basement. Panthers too -- pretty sure I had them or Ottawa 15th in the East. I almost don't want to look.

  14. mikesbandit Full Member

Fuck. Forgot about the Jackets. Thought those two superstars: Carter an Wiznewski were going to make them a playoff team. Heard season tix packages start at 15 bucks a game. Wow.

    Worst GMs still employed??

    Burke (money for nothin)
Howeson (overpays for shit. Cant insill confidence in team)
Snow / Tambellini (where are they with all those pics?)
  16. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

It costs $15 for me to get lunch on most days.

Howson is horrible but at least he didn't cave to Sather in the Nash sweepstakes. He did give $33 mill to Wiz!!!! Genius.

Snow has been bad but at least the Isles are collecting prospects, other than that his hands are tied. It's impossible for the Isles to attract any UFAs with their status up in the air unlike Burke in Toronto. Burke also has the ability to spend to the cap where Snow doesn't, so with that said I think Burke is the worst GM still employed. I hope to see him fired ASAP.

Maple Leafs looked horrible tonight. Flyers rookies with 6 points as they have a bright future.

Shit Islanders somehow beat the Penguins so Flyers gain closer to them. Pretty much set in stone they will face off in the first round. Two remaining games will decide home ice though Flyers play better on the road.
  18. mikesbandit Full Member

Agreed, Burke is the worst, by far, but over ten years in the basenent should have made a team by itself. Garth has not created an infrastructure; free agents or not.

today's poll question on our local sports radio station is:

Who is more embarrassing: Leafs or Habs?

I'd say the Leafs..... When you lose 7-1 at home and the oppostion takes time, during the game to wish his grandfather a happy birthday (Scott Hartnell) it shows that nobody has any respect for your team.

It was an embarrassing night to be a Toronto Maple Leafs fan.In fact, it was a breeze for the Philadelphia Flyers en route to their 7-1 win, Scott Hartnell gave his grandfather a happy birthday wave to the camera. But, while Leafs Nation has expressed outrage this season with chants of firing former coach Ron Wilson followed by expressing displeasure with GM Brian Burke, they turned a new page. This one, however, treads uncharted waters. It wasn’t a chant against any particular players, or coach, or in support of the opposing team even. With baseball just a week away, the fans at the Air Canada Centre rallied behind their not-so-much adored baseball counterpart and fellow unsuccessful franchise, last year’s .500 win-percentage Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays finished up last season fourth place in the East Division. Here’s video via The Score: Matthew Wilson is editor of Center Ice Chat. Follow him on Twitter @Mattjw24. Pierre Maguire or Pat Roy as GM in Montreal? I say Pat Roy destroys the team even further.
  23. WhatRUSaying Full Member

I really thought Vokoun was the player that could put the Caps over the top and I do think he can do that. The problem for the Caps is Ryan Miller has been lights out lately and his Sabres have been on a role.

As for the games last night:

Huge win for the Caps with a capital H!!! Winning in Boston is never easy, so for Washington to get the 2 points is big.

Another pathetic display by the Pens losing both home and home games to the Isles. This team was so hyped about a week or 2 ago and now average at best. This team is playing with no passion and even Fleury has stunk lately. Not the way to go into the playoffs.

Now the Flyers are only 2 points behind the Pens. They will do battle in the first round, not sure if the home ice will be in Western or Eastern PA.

The Hawks with their win are about to clinch a playoff spot and can jump as high as the 4 seed if they play well. Preds and Wings will play a part in that.

The Devils about to clinch a playoff spot and will get that 6 seed.

The Coyotes with a huge win over the Sharks vault from the 9 spot to the 7 spot in one night.

Sid came back into the game, but was a nonfactor.

That is really embarassing that the Leafs fans were cheering Let's Go Blue Jays! The Jays usually start off well like the Leafs, but always faulter. There will be some Let's Go Leafs chants in September as The Sky Dome.

Well only French men can be the GM in Montreal. I would not be surprised if they went after Roy. It seems like teams that have fallen on hard times often try to being in one of their former star players.

makes perfect sense to me that they need French speaking coaches and GMs in Montreal. They are the voice of the club and will alienate a good portion of their fans if they are not bi-lingual.
  26. Anus Full Member

How many Quebecois speak no English whatsoever? I thought the population was almost completely bilingual. Either way, I think I could get by with a non-English speaking GM on my team. Not like the current one says very much of consequence anyway.

Pains me to say that I'm pulling for the Pens tonight. Now watch them lose!!
