Pens win = Bruins playoffs for the 5th straight season under Julien.

But of course if they don't repeat or have a bad stretch next season all the idiots around here will still want him fired.

Not many people are ever satisfied. Congrats and good luck with your team in the playoffs.
  3. PJWilliams Full Member

Thanks, same to the Devils. One of the few out of the East I'd be ok with winning along with the Pens.

And may all the shit luck fall onto the Flyers once again.

Don't know if you guys heard about this yet but it's a pretty big deal here on LI:

Asbestos Investigation Underway at Nassau Coliseum

State and federal inspectors are checking workers' claims that the arena has dangerous asbestos.

State inspectors began an asbestos investigation at Nassau Coliseum Friday, prompted by complaints from workers, a state department of Labor spokesman said.
About a dozen workers told NBC New York that several areas of the more than 4-year-old arena are covered with what they believe is dangerous asbestos. Photos provided by their lawyer showed a white substance on the floor and walls of the coliseum's boiler room.
The asbestos probe began as thousands of parents and their children visited the arena for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus.
"It's really shocking and upsetting," said Stephanie Coons, a pregnant mother of two children. "I am sorry to hear that."
The workers expressed concerns for their health and safety. Two of their longtime colleagues, they said, have contracted mesothelioma and cancer and the workers suspect the building played a role.
"We've raised questions about it for years and were always told it was nothing," said one worker.
Earlier this year, however, one worker collected samples of the white material and brought it to three labs for testing.
According to that worker's lawyer, the testing confirmed dangerous levels of potentially airborne asbestos in work areas like the coliseum's boiler room and loading dock as well as stairwells and other places accessible to the public.

According to Fat Francessa, who never talks hockey, if there is a lawsuit and there is evidence of asbestos in the arena the Isles could break the lease. Which means it's either Brooklyn, Quebec, or KC in the very near future for the Isles.

Hopefully Bryzgalov is back next week. Fuck Bob is getting lit up.

I know Ottawa is not far from Quebec province. Do you think they need French speaking coaches and GM's there? I guess it really does pay to be bi-lingual.

You are welcome. Wouldn't you know it that your favorite NHL player had 4 points in the game, Sidney Crosby. :D:D

I am still concerned about the Pens defense. Johnson has not been in net in a while and it showed last night. he was not that great.

Canucks have made life difficult for playoff hopefulls by defeating the Kings, Avs, Stars, and now they will probably put the final coffin in the Flames tonight.

Kings were big winners and launched themself to the 3 spot again.

Every spot in the west could change. Blues and Canucks are neck and neck for 1 and the 2 spot. Four of the Pacific teams are battling for 3 spots. Preds, Wings, and Hawks are battling for the 4-6 seeds.

Looks close to a sellout on Long Island with a lot of Bruins fans there. 2-2 Bruins and Isles

Sens could help their cause in getting closer to the playoffs lead the Flyers 3-2.

    Rest of the games tonight:

    Buffalo at Toronto 7:00 PM
    Montreal at Washington 7:00 PM
New Jersey at Carolina 7:00 PM
Winnipeg at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM
Columbus at St. Louis 8:00 PM
    Chicago at Nashville 8:00 PM
Los Angeles at Minnesota 8:00 PM
    Anaheim at Phoenix 9:00 PM
    Calgary at Vancouver 10:00 PM
Dallas at San Jose 10:30 PM

I do fault the ownership and management a little. They should have built a new arena a long time ago. Wang many years ago was going to pay for everything with The Lighthouse Project now he does not want to pay for it fully. That arena is just ugly and so outdated. The Islanders have to make a decision.

The only way they stay in NY is if they play in Brooklyn for a few years or forever, and possibly build an arena on Long Island. The good news if they break their lease early they can't move to Quebec because it will take a few years for them to build their arena.

The Isles and their fans are put in a very vulnerable situation and need to make a decision soon. Time is a wasting!!!!!!!!!!!

The Coyotes fans are a disgrace. They have a modern arena, no parking fee, and a decent team. They have the worst attendance this year. The Isles are second to worst, but they have a little excuse as their arena blows.

I wish the Bruins nothing but the best as well. With a 2 goal lead on Long Island late in the 3rd, the Bruins are looking like they will get the 2 seed. I guess the question for you and the rest of the Bruins fans.

Who do you want the Sens, Caps or Sabres in the first round?

The Flyers were down 3-0 to the Sens and now that game is tied at 3!!!!

Islanders about to be offically eliminated from the playoffs.
  9. PJWilliams Full Member

Obviously the Sens, even though regular season is meaningless in the playoffs the Bruins have taken 4 out of 5 from them with another game left to go. Caps gave them a hard time and I don't wanna see the Sabres at all.
  10. Anus Full Member

Caps are going to roll over in 4 or 5 if they make it in. No goaltending (Vokoun's done), and otherwise they're simply not built for the playoffs this year.

Devils are in the playoffs with a 5-0 win in Carolina.
    Brodeur with his 119th shutout!
Clarkson got a birthday goal and he is 3rd on the Devils in goals scored. Only 3 behind Kovie and 1 behind Parise.
Awesome season for Clarkson. He might suck at faceoffs, but the rest of his game is pretty damn good. I'm glad he is a Devil.
    Bring on the playoffs!
Also, I'm 1 day away from winning the Vancouver Islanders Fantasy Hockey League.
  14. WhatRUSaying Full Member

It is looking like you will probably get your wish. The Sabres have started losing the last couple of nights and could cost them a spot. If the Caps don't win in OT tonight I think the Sens are pretty much in.

Jackets making it difficult for the Blues as they lead them 3-2 after 2.
Hawks leading the Preds by 2 after 2. If the Hawks win they would jump to the 5 seed.
Devils with an easy win and a playoff spot for them probably the 6th seed against the Panthers.
    Kings lead the Wild 3-2.
    Coyotes lead the Ducks 1-0.

Key games starting soon: Flames/Canucks and Stars/Sharks!!!!!
  15. WhatRUSaying Full Member

They got the big win in the shootout and with the Sabres losing do have a decent edge as of now. They will have to play defense in the playoffs. It is getting close and they could be playing the Rangers in round 1.

Congrats to your Devils making the playoffs after what I call a fluke of not making it last year. Brodeur is going to be a tough goalie to beat in the playoffs.

No one here has talked about the Fantasy Hockey League. Who is even in it and how did everyone do? Congrats on winning it all if that happens!!!
  16. Lou Lamoriello Full Member

Last year is a distant memory. Shit happens and that's sports for ya. I still feel bad for MacLean. My favorite Devil of all time had to be a bad coach when he got the chance.....Sucks.
The Fantasy Hockey League was a quite one, not much chatter throughout the season, but it was fun being involved. I think out of the 8 teams that signed up, 6 of us stayed with it all year. There will be another league next season.
WRUS, are you gonna do the playoff picks this year? That was fun also.
Also, thanks for the kind words about the Devils making the playoffs, can't wait to see who win the Cup out of the Atlantic division. It will be a team out of the Atlantic division this year :D , but not the shit stain Flyers.

For some reason I lost the rules of the playoff pool. If anyone is bored and can scroll back a bunch of pages, so I can copy and paste it. I would love those, so I dont have to write them everytime. I think this year will be a lower turnout based on the amount of people posting here. That just means I have a better chance of winning. :D

I don't think MacLean was that horrible. I thought the Devils did have a lot of injuries last year and that dug them too big of a hole.

I just can't remember who was in your league and not many people wanted to talk Fantasy Hockey this year in this thread. It is a good thing when you can be number 1 at that.

I am not sure the Atlantic Division will represent the cup champion. You still got to beat the champs out of Boston. They won't be easy. There are a lot of good teams out West that won't be simple either. Let's see our teams get out of round 1 and take it from there. ;)

    Kings/Wild in a shootout.
    Coyotes lead 4-0.
Canucks and Sharks have 1-0 leads.
  19. WhatRUSaying Full Member

Looks like a couple of Bruins fans in that league, a Ranger fan, a Canucks fan, and you the Devils fan. Don't know the rest. Usually you can tell what team someone roots for based on who they pick on their team. I know I had a lot of Pens on my team that happen to win it all. :D

    Kings lose in a shootout!
  20. Lou Lamoriello Full Member

That was a shitty shootout for the Kings.
Malkin, Kovie and Elias did me right this year in the league. Pominville and Vanek were good too.
  21. Lou Lamoriello Full Member

    Here are the rules.
  22. WhatRUSaying Full Member

How the hell did you do that so fast?:D It took me forever to scroll back 200 pages. Thanks for doing so!!!!!

Yeah having Malkin, Kovy, and Elias will help you win it all. I had Malkin and Elias on my team. Who were your goaltenders?
  23. WhatRUSaying Full Member

Sharks leading the Stars 2-0. If the Sharks can hold on they will go to the 8 seed and the Stars to the 9th seed. The West changes every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Canucks and Flames tied at 2. Canucks with a win can jump into the number 1 spot in the west.
  24. Lou Lamoriello Full Member

    Goaltenders:
    Brodeur
    Hiller
    Pavelec
    Garon

As for scrolling back, use the little arrows by the page numbers to fast forward or reverse. I just looked at a few pages and checked the dates.
