I missed your post. The Leafs did a bad job in leading 3-0. Then the Sabres made it a 3-2 game. Now the Leafs are back to a bad job leading 5-3. The Leafs have probably helped ruin the Sabres hopes for a playoff spot.

The Islanders did a smart job in losing to the Devils.

Jets fought back and tied the game 3-3 with the Panthers.

Pens up 4-2, but will not get the 1 seed. Rangers up 5-3 in the 3rd.

Sharks and Stars tied at 1!!!!!!!!

Mike was right, the Islanders and Wang are a fucking joke.
To coincide with its 40th-anniversary celebration, the franchise created and distributed to its season-ticket holders 42 keepsake tickets. Each featured a notable Islanders player, coach or executive. None featured LaFontaine.
In September, he and former Islander Steve Webb biked 550 miles over 48 hours, from Toronto to New York, to raise money for charity. The Islanders issued a news release on their website about the event. The release mentioned Webb, but not LaFontaine. The Islanders confirmed these events happened but didn't comment.
The franchise has not retired his jersey; forward Marty Reasoner wears No. 16. And though LaFontaine was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003, the Islanders have yet to induct him into their Hall of Fame.
There's more in that story, too. It's just sad. I don't get it, honestly.
Yes, this has an origin, it's not just out of pure hatred. LaFontaine stepped down from his role as an adviser after owner Charles Wang fired GM Neil Smith in 2006. LaFontaine had only been in the position for 40 days but didn't like what he saw and left. Since then, he's essentially been banished.

"Pat ran for the hills. Pat ran for cover," Milbury told the Journal. "It was cowardly, and it was terrible. And if Charles was [ticked], I wouldn't blame him in the least."

Anyone who is actually a fan of the flyers is a fucking laughing stock. The franchise is an absolute disgrace. A team of cheap shot shitheads that are sytematically taught how to dive and flop. And then complain when don't get a call.

I like how Stepan waives a stick near Giroux and a second later his heads flops back.
The best part is the ref's are so fucking incompetent they buy this shit. Meanwhile Ilya can drag down Gabby who doesn't even have the puck and somehow there is no call.
Then Cally has his stick held by Giroux on the PP for 4 seconds and again no call.
It's a shame that a guy like Giroux is buying into Laviolette's bullshit and fast becoming a diving, chirping pussy like his team mates. I expect it from the other shitheads on that team like Hartnell, Pronger, Rinaldo, Sestito, Simmonds, Coburn and Shelley. That's quite the list, isn't it.

Good luck winning anything when you have that many assholes on one team.

I think eventually LaFontaine and Wang will see eye to eye. That is really amazing that the Isles don't honor LaFontaine. He was an Islander legend and an American. I knew there was bitterness between LaFontaine and the Isles, but forgot that he stepped down when Wang fired Smith. That was such a total mess in more ways than none.

    Bad job by the Isles.

It is horrible when a former member of a team has to be in a fight with ownership after their career. I have seen it so many times with the Yankees, but eventually cooler heads prevail.

I think the Panthers do clinch a playoff spot with their OT loss, but not the division.

Sharks take a 3-2 lead over the Stars.

Good win by the Pens as they put a little distance on the Flyers. Thanks Rangers!!! ;)

This has been getting a lot of coverage on the NHL channel. They are all in agreement at what a disgrace the Isles are. Pat LaFOntaine is everything good you want in an NHL player and this is how he's treated. Classy organization.

They also went on and on about how they are the worst team in the NHL at managing their youth. They are all rushed up too quickly, play poorly and permanently lose their confidence.

If I were drafted by them I'd pull a Lindros.

Funny how fast A Lange dissappeared.
  7. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

The Isles had problems with Trottier for a while too but LaFontaine was a great Islander and he's a LI guy now and he does so much for charity. He is the perfect guy to honor but only the Isles can fuck that up. All because LaFontaine knew the Isles were a mess and didn't want to be associated with it and of course Milbury defends Wang. I have to call my brother and thank him for making a Devils fan in the late 80's instead of rooting for the Islanders like some of my other family members.

If the Devils win their last 2 and the Flyers don't get a point in their last 2 the Devils get the 5 seed and play Pittsburgh. But the Devils can't finish any lower than 6 now...I'm hoping the Devils lose one of their last 2, either at Detroit or home vs Ott. Let's Go Wings!!!

The Sabres-Leafs and Panthers-Jets were two exciting games that I would've missed without Center Ice. What the hell did I do before Center Ice came along???

Haha..I told you, this is Piggy Pete's M.O. He took over a franchise that loves dirty play, they won 2 Cups because of it, and incorporated the diving and flopping. The franchise and their fat fans are a disgrace.

The Flyers fall behind and then act like goons so the refs then try to control the game by calling a bunch of phantom penalties which calms the Flyers down and puts the Flyers PP on the ice and it suddenly becomes close again. I've seen a few times this year, once against the Devils when they went up 6-0 earlier in the season. They lead the league in PPs and that explains why they score so many goals. I think and hope the Pens are gonna destroy them.

Excellent points about LaFontaine. He is also a good story to honor because he has concussion issues. Even since 2001 the winner of the Rangers/Islanders series gets the Pat Lafontaine trophy and the Isles don't even care about him.

That whole Neil Smith situation made the Isles a joke back then and they have not had much success after that.

For some reason I don't think the Devils are going all out in their next 2, so I don't see them being the 5 seed. However, the Wings have struggled lately even barely getting by the Panthers at home.

    Yeah those games were great.

Stay tuned for Sharks/Stars 3-2 Sharks after 2.

Jackets could spoil the Coyotes if they want.
  10. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

Yeah, that Nino kid is being ruined.

I can't remember seeing a sports team in any league in worse shape than the Isles. The on ice product is garbage, the Arena is an old asbestos factory, they could move to another city, the owner is a nut, the GM is the old backup goalie etc. If you saw this in a movie you would turn it off because it's too unrealistic.

The Flyers continue their crying. Maybe Milbury, Pete the Hut and Berube are fuck buddies.
    http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/...kin-the-two-dirtiest-players-on-the-penguins/

What does it matter what time of the game it is when a player hits another player. If there is time left on the fucking clock then continue hitting and playng the game (Vitale's hit on Briere). All this crying about CLEAN hits and goon lines are getting old.

Did anyone see that Sabres tying goal? That was crazy. I am surprised the officials did not blow the whistle. Sabres are alive, but they are on the road in Boston and Philly. I don't think they have a great shot to make it, but I could be wrong.

Wow I did not know Crosby and Malkin were the 2 dirtiest players on the Pens. I guess Berube never heard of Cooke or Orpik. I love it when a goon like Berube accuses the stars of the league as being dirty. Please!!!!!!!!!!

Geeter come out come out wherever you are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha. I'm here WRUS. I was watching Netflix and the game at the same time.

I saw the Thornton goal and Clowe goal and bits of the Couture goal.

We shall see... you know me. I'm pretty pessimistic.

Disappear from what. The game was over in the first period. They fought back, but they can't expect to comeback down 3-0 every game. I don't know the numbers, but after the first period they have to be outscoring teams by alot.

Focused on the Penguins either home or away it doesn't matter. Rather end it on their ice and see Crosby cry home.
  18. A.Lange=Crazy Full Member

Shelley didn't knock him out, but he beat the shit out of him. Better knock down than Kovalchuk over Scheen. Only highlight of the game.

Shelley and Rupp go back to the Winter Classic as Rupp said he was irrelevant then when he scored a goal did the Jagr salute to the Flyers bench. He found out payback is a bitch tonight.

You are so Toronto obsessed it's funny. Even though the Canucks are fighting for the Presidents trophy you focus on the Leafs then bitch when the media covers the Leafs.

You and your entire city should be treated for severe inferiority syndrome.

Face facts: more people care about the Leafs when they are in the basement 7 years straight than about the Canucks the year after narrowly missing the Cup. That irritates the hell out of you doesn't it?

Canucks fans have always been shit and always will be. They booed Luongo when he got chased tonight like the classless imbeciles they are ...way to support your guy heading into the playoffs. Then the morons in Vancouver started throwing their hats on the ice when Burrows scored in the shoot out.

How embarrassing ... and you call yourselves Canadians ... I thought Canadian hockey fans had more sense than that. ... although I guess I should know better ... Too bad Luongo doesn't tell the fans to STFU like Espo did back in the summit series and shut those fools up.

Seriously. I know hockey is a real part time thing for you, but from the little you know aren't you embarrassed watching that shithole team?

Watch some other teams for a while and you'll see how a real team acts. Maybe you'll learn something.
  22. johnni44 Full Member

They are interviewing the Philly Daily News beat writer. Even he thinks Laviolette has no clue.
He had no idea why with 1 minute left in the game against Pitt, they're up 3 goals and this moron has the Briere line out against a 4th line. Of course Pitt is going to put the 4th line on at the end in a blow out.

This is coaching 101 that any college coach would know. And then he complains about Briere getting taken out by a clean hit????

Go fuck yourself Lav. You put your tiniest forward out in a bad spot and had the very thing happen to him that never should.

what gets lost in all of this is that Sid is 25 years old and has been under the microscope since he was 15. Sure, he can whine on the ice; he really is that much better than everyone else out there. His play and consistancy speak for itself. Cunts like Milbury should just keep their jealous mouths shut.
  24. mikesbandit Full Member

that fucking slope, Wang, is an embarrassment to the league. Patty LaFontaine is an ambassador for the sport, and always has been a class act.

I wonder if Stamkos can reach 60 tonight. Budaj is going tonight. He should be able to get at least one.
