Chris Kunitz had 2 goals and was still a -5. Ouch.

The NHL media has unanimously picked the Pens for the east. Go to NHL home ice and see who everyone picked....everyone.
  3. johnni44 Full Member

btw, i know that's a load of crap. the don't talk hockey on the Fan. Besides, that's the local market, I'm talking Canadian hockey media....all of it, without exception.

Hey MB, see why I picked 4 or 5 games for the Devils??
  5. mikesbandit Full Member

Just shows you why the first round of the playoffs is better than anything any sport can hand you

Everyone knew Couturier should've been the 5th pick in last years draft...Thanks Isles, Sens, and Jets for letting him fall to Philly.

    Giroux is just ridiculous.
  7. johnni44 Full Member

6 points. Not too shabby. Too bad he doesn't get 1/1000th the ink the 'others' do.

Devils almost broke the record for shots in a period which is 30 by the 1980 North Stars. The Devils had 26.

They let up a little and had to hold on...hopefully they learned something after that bullshit 2nd period.

Brodeur with his 100th playoff win second to only Roy who has a ridiculous 150.

Devils beat Florida. Mets beat the Phillies and Lee's line wasn't too bad. Knicks won by 80. Nice night for me.

another phantom call against LA. Geeeez.
  10. johnni44 Full Member

poetic justice was just served by Brown.

    Time for Schneider.
  12. johnni44 Full Member

neither goal was Lou's fault. Besides, putting Schneider in won't help Hamius from falling over the blue line.

I think the Panthers are the worst team in this year's playoff, which is strange to say about a 3 seed.

I've never seen the Devils dominate a period in the playoffs in my life, too bad they didn't play that way after they went up 3-0. You'd think these guys would've learned something from watching the Pens the other night.

Happy they won with the Kovy-Parise-Zajac line doing nothing...good sign.
  14. johnni44 Full Member

Didn't get to see any of that tilt as I was watching the Pens collapse. Seems like shorties are on tonight's menu. 4th of the night so far in just 2 games.
  15. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

I did not see this whole game obviously but what happened with Fleury?? No way he should've been in the Vezina talks. Its Quick or Lundqvist and the rest aren't really close.

Giroux is the best player in the NHL right now...the guy is a magician on the ice.
  16. johnni44 Full Member

they absolutely collapsed going down the stretch and when you combine that with the Dev's in the last 2 weeks this was easy to see coming.
  17. johnni44 Full Member

He is god awful. There isn't a worse goaler in the playoffs and his stats back that up.
For one, there were maybe 4 goals he absolutely should have stopped but the killer was his kicking out a rebound to Jagr who spun around and caught the far corner to take the lead. Not only should he have stopped that but he should have eaten that puck. That was the game winner and a back breaker.
You watch the other series and for the most part the goal tending has been spectacular (mostly), and then you watch these two clowns. Holy shit, both of them couldn't keep a beach ball out of the net. At least for Bryz he seemed to settle down and the first couple his D were toasted.
  18. johnni44 Full Member

Agree. And he doesn't flop or do anything over the limit. He is something else.
  19. johnni44 Full Member

Bieksa is such an asshole. Just throwin' that out there.
  20. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

I did turn it on at the Devils intermission to see Bryz give up a softy. But then I saw his save on Letang. Awesome.

Some great goaltending so far in the playoffs. Brodeur was great tonight, especially in that sloppy 2nd period, and Theodore was really good too.

It's not everyday you see a team put up 8 in another team's building in a must win game. I expect the Philly fans to be all over Fleury on Sunday, should be a crazy atmosphere.

I was just looking at the stats and noticed this too. Wow. How does that happen in a playoff game??
  22. johnni44 Full Member

I really, really, really want to see someone run over Bieksa and put him out of our misery.

I'm back from the game. Jesus H Christ! The 1st period was total domination by the Devils. I couldn't believe the SOG the Devils put up in the 1st. I thought it was gonna be 10 -0 with the way the opening period played out. Then came the second period.....totally different approach by the Devils and I really started to worry when it was 3-2. Everyone counts out the Panthers, but when teams get lazy and sits back, anything can happen and it almost did. I was cheering for the fucking clock to run out in the third, I didn't even care if the Devils scored another goal or not. The Devils did shut them down in the third though, thankfully.
I felt embarassed for the Panthers fans. Talk about whiners, those fuckers rather yell "Refs suck!" than "go panthers" or anything cheering the team on. They bitched every time a Panthers player was hit or fell down. I personally didn't think the refs were bad tonight and after 10 minutes of them chanting "Refs Suck" the refs seemed to start calling more penalties against the Devils. The tripping call against Gionta I thought was bullshit, but whatever. The Panthers fans can't even fill the arena after 12 years out of the playoffs. It looked like it was 90% full.
The Kovy-Parise-Zajac line didn't score but they played decent. They did have a few scoring chances, especially the 2 on 1 (Kovy-Parise), when they were coming down on Theodore. Theodore was only tested a few times after the 1st. The 2 goals the Panthers scored was just piss poor defense by the Devils. It was great seeing birthday boy Elias score the 1st goal.
I sat next to two 70-80 year old ladies that were season ticket holder from the beginning of the Panthers first season. They said they haven't missed 1 Panthers game ever. Pretty damn cool if you ask me. :D
I was sitting there thinking if it was gonna be the last time I get to see Brodeur play in person, I hope not.
On another note, WTF happened to the Penguins?!?!? 8-5 Christ Almighty! play fucking hockey and stop letting these homos win!!!!
Edit: Also, the Devils PP was crap tonight too.
