I agree, they do have brass balls taking on some of those shots. The problem with that is, if they make it to the finals, are all these blocked shots gonna take a toll on them? Sooner or later, one or more of the Rangers are gonna get a major injury from this. I enjoy watching players put it all on the line for their team, but they can't be going after every shot that the Devils take. Let the goalie do his job.

they spend 750 million on that place and they can't put in proper lighting? they try to make up for the lack of lights with intensity, which just increases the number of shadows out there.

I couldn't agree with you more Lou. It's not a strategy for long term success and if Torts is going to mandate all his players do this every fuckingyear he's coach, I personally will drive him to the airport to get his ass out of town. You can't take that risk and think it's not going to bite you in the ass at some point.

Simply look at last year, lost Dubi for weeks while he was on his best point scoring streak of his career. Came back and never regained it. Lost callahan for the playoffs. And then there's this year, lost cally for a couple of weeks blocking Kovalchuk's wrister and lost Zucharello indefinitely. I'm guessing that's what took Dubinsky out as well.
That's 5 players in 2 years alone nevermind the one's that are hobbled and who's game is somewhat limited as a result.

Try this sometime. Have someone take a hammer to your foot, let it swell and bruise and discolor. Then for shits and giggles put that very sore foot into a very tight boot a day or so later, lace it up real tight (if you can), and repeat as necessary. You'll get the gist.

It's plain fucking stupid and it hides the fact that the reason you are doing this is cause you don't have the puck. Simple solution, get it back. I can't remember any team that led the NHL in blocked shots and won the cup (except for Tort's last team) and there is a damn good reason for that.

That's year 2 or 3. Most of year 1 modifications were the new escalators, the new West balcony, the expanded concourse on the 6th floor, new seats, new locker room level (weight room, lockers, video room, etc. and some luxury suites.

I remember that and was already celebrating and yes, they replayed it once.

I can't tell how the view is from levels 300 and 400 at Madison Square Garden. During one game, they were on the ice and I could see the seats going up into the background. It looked like those sections are deep and the view isn't that great?

Like seats are angled at, let's say 30 degrees, rather than auditorium seating which is closer to 45 degrees?

Yea, the Garden has probably the most shallow seating I've seen. Any other rink I've been in if you stand too quick you feel like you'll tumble quite a ways down. Not MSG.
The lower 300's aren't bad at all. The 400's are back too far. Our old tickets before phase one of the reno were section 206 right smack on the red line. Best seats in the Garden. Then of course they doubled so we gave them up. We are now in the corner and are going to try to get back to the middle next year so we'll see.

I am not a Torts hater by no means, but he tends to be more of an ass at his press conferences when he loses. He talked to the media a lot longer after game 1 than game 2. That really is the only things that rub me the wrong way. I guess I can throw out the way he says it and not what he says that bothers me a little.

That Brodeur save was unreal last night and the Devils hung on for the win. I am glad this series should be close unlike the Kings and Coyotes.

Hanzal not playing tonight for the Coyotes. They look so frustrated and have had no answers for the Kings so far.

9 pm EST Hollywood will be rocking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Coyotes and Kings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. WhatRUSaying Full Member

Are they seating that for basketball games too? That seems like a dumb idea and I would think that it would not be as loud with parts of the arena empty. I only want the Isles to go to Brooklyn if something can't be worked out on Long Island. Maybe the Isles can move to Glendale, Arizona, where they can have 2 pro hockey teams!!

Renny gets fired again. I don't think it was fair as the Oilers are such a young team, but such is life!!

I kind of like Torts because of the way he handled Avery and then took shit from the fans early in the year. It's not easy to end the career of a fan favorite. Why Avery was a fan favorite totally escapes me but whatever.....I do understand why the media is annoyed with him.

I heard the Torts' whole press conference was a total of 36 words. DeBoer needed 85 words to answer his first question.

I feel like everyone is now fully on the King's bandwagon but I think the Devils or Rangers will beat them in the Finals.
  14. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

Are those the prices for the Isles-Devils PRE-SEASON game in Brooklyn?? If they are it's a joke, for $156 I could be in the Rock or MSG for the Conference Finals.
  15. Anus Full Member

Isn't Brooklyn technically on Long Island? Going by my maps it appears to be.
  16. WhatRUSaying Full Member

I just think Torts comes off as a sore loser if he answers less questions when he loses. I do have respect for him because if one of his player screws up he makes them accountable. Every player is fair game. Some players might not want to play for a coach like that, but Torts is a good coach.

I am very impressed with the Kings. I really do think if LA makes short work of the Coyotes and the Rangers/Devils end up a long series LA does get a big advantage. I think especially if they play the Rangers because they have already played 2 long series not counting this one.
  17. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

Yeah, so is Queens, Nassau County and Suffolk County. The Isles have to find a home in one of those places unless it's off to Quebec.
  18. WhatRUSaying Full Member

Yeah Brooklyn and Queens are considered Long Island. I think most Long Islanders really consider Long Island to be Suffolk and Nassau. Being that Brooklyn and Queens are part of NYC. It kind of is dumb to think of Brooklyn and Queens as Long Island. I should almost say Suffolk and Nassau do not have subways(trains, not Jarret's sandwich shop) and Brooklyn and Queens do. More people in Nassau and Suffolk have cars compared to NYC. Driving is pretty much essential in Nassau and Suffolk.

I was reading about how every team that wins the Cup needs that "easy" series so they can get a break. The Devils had theirs when they pounded the shit out of the horrible Flyers. The Rangers haven't had any breaks yet and unless they win 3 in a row, which would be tough, they won't get one before the Finals if they win.

The Devils have to keep the game on the boards and wear down the Rangers with their big forwards. Rangers are looking tired already.
  20. WhatRUSaying Full Member

The Devils need to shoot the puck from the point and get deflections. Lundqvist has trouble when the pucks are shot high on his glove side. That seems to be his weakness even though he is a damn good goalie. The Rangers at times do look like a very fatigue team and that is when the Devils have to pounce on them.

I do agree that if the Devils have a long series it won't affect them as much as it would the Rangers whoever makes it to the finals.

I am currious to see what kind of gameplan the Coyotes come up with tonight. They looked so frustrated in game 2 and they even played better, but they lost again.
  21. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

Getting deflections can be tough against the Rangers since they don't let many shots through from the point. Last night the Devils got some through. I just hope the Devils can keep winning board battles and keep up the heavy forecheck so they can wear the Rangers down. All the games played and shot blocking has to be taking a toll on them.

Devils are something like 1-4 in games that start at 1. I hope they are awake for Saturday's game.

I find it funny that last year some of the Rangers fans were complaining that they were blocking too many shots and getting injured. Now that they are not getting injured it is ok. I guess they can't have it both ways.

I do agree that the Rangers do block a lot, so the Devils just got to be constantly shooting. I think the Devils with their style of play can tire the Rangers out. That is what they did to the Flyers.

Day games can go either way, but the Devils have to be motivated a little because they will have more fan support in Newark than in the first 2 games!!
  24. WhatRUSaying Full Member

Doan takes a stupid penalty, but it does not matter the Kings PP did very little. The Coyotes had more chances on that Kings PP. Doan is lucky he is playing in this game and not suspended.

    0-0!!

    Smith does look good now!!!
  25. WhatRUSaying Full Member

Great news for the Coyotes. They have their first lead of the series.

Bad news just over 2 minutes late the Kings tie it up.

    1-1 in the 2nd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  26. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

Coyotes stink. They can't even get in the Kings zone let alone get a shot on goal in the last 3 minutes with their season on the line. How did Phoenix get to the WCF???
