    Congrats PJ!

And thanks WRUS. We all have a good fun time doing these picks per round so we appreciate you keeping track of everything. You had a better showing than last year!

Every hockey fan I know, mostly Isles and Rangers fans, love Doc and think he's great. I also know people who only watch the NHL during the SCF and think he's great. I think you're in the minority.

Caps fans probably hate him because he's always the last voice they hear when the Caps are losing in the 2nd round every year ;)

I'm shocked by this....the Devils DO NOT forfeit their first rd pick this year. They will pick 29th and they still have to forfeit their 1st rd pick in 2013 or 2014. Fuck you Bettman.

I do agree that Thorne had difficulty pronouncing a bunch of names. He has great enthusiasm, but I think he tried to be bigger than the game itself. That is why Emrick is great as he lets you hear the fans at the end of the big games, and doesn't say much at the end. He let's us hear the crowds emotion and that is the way it should be done.

The only criticism of Emrick is he may complicate things for some viewers when he says 3 quarters of a minute left in the PP. Many people can't figure that out. :D

I do find it funny that many fans feel that certain announcers are against their team. I remember my housemate in college told me Dan Dierdorf hated the Washington Redskins. I never got that!! Even Yankeee fans had this hatred for Joe Morgan, which I never understood.

Even when the Flyers were the national game I never thought Clement was pro-Flyers. I thought he called the game down the middle. I think he could do a great job as a color guy for NBC, but they are into Eddie O.

Mock drafts have you picking up Malcolm Subban (Goalie). I'm trying to stay positive for you and Lou cause I know how much you guys get screwed.

You're just a Mickey Mouse organization anyway. If the Sharks play the Devils in a future SCF, you two might as well not watch cause Bettman will just hand it to my team.
    Lou Lamoriello likes this.

Not a problem Geeter!! You are a great poster and have seen some of the posters get to enjoy the Stanley Cup. I hope your Sharks get one. I don't think they will have to wait 45 years like the Kings did, but who knows!!! San Jose is a great hockey town!!

This is comical. Claude Giroux was ranked the 2nd best player in the NHL playoffs. Are you kidding me?????????????

We should honestly end the debate for best hockey commentator because we all know Bob Costas should be calling games.

I used to be a fan of Doc, but I'm starting to grow a little tired of him... BUT, I would much rather have him than Milbury or Costas or Roenick or even Ray Ferraro and Jamie McLellan.
  8. WhatRUSaying Full Member

I think McLellan was playing in the Asian Hockey League not too long ago when I lived in South Korea. :D

I like Costas. I think he is a very solid broadcaster, but not sure he can call a hockey game. Ray Ferraro is not bad either. I could do without Milbury and Roenick. They seem like Cherry wannabees.

I remember when the Devils beat the Flyers in 2000 and Clement was really getting on my nerves. JD was a Ranger and I never felt he was against NJ when he did the games with Doc. I liked the Doc/JD team, Clement and Eddie O are a different story.

I can't watch Giants football when Joe Buck and Aikman do the games which is quite often. Aikman makes me sick with his anti-Giants shit and he hasn't been kind to Eli in the past but that should change now.

Doc's call on the Henrique goal against NY in game 6 was perfect...one of my all time favorite Devils moment and the Devils have had a lot of them in my life. Gary Thorne would've been screaming about God knows what and he probably would called him Enrique or Sykora...Thorne was brutal.

I think Doc has lost a step but I still don't think there are any better options out there. I watched the HNIC games and the CBC games and those guys aren't in Doc's league.

You should hear Glen Healy, talk about a miserable fuck. That guy is cranky and angry about everything.

Ugh. I'm getting old. I totally just flaked on John Davidson. Maybe that's why I liked Doc cause that combo was informative but not too over the top then.

Oh please man. We've all been following hockey for so long now... Glenn Healy has never been happy about anything. I can believe that guy is a f-ing grouch.

Guess Lou sees a player he likes, or thinks this year's draft is that much stronger.

Florida's got Markstrom, who's supposed to be a stud. Not sure if they'd be looking for insurance, but possibly.

MartyB and I have talked about Clermont, Wedgewood (and Frazee). Not sure if Devils really need to have another goalie to develop with Subban. They might go after either a Swedish defenseman or a Left Winger?
  16. Ervin316 Full Member

Not too bad for some who did not participate in the first round. Does this mean I get the ALC award for finishing 2nd?

Cross the Pens off from winning the cup next year. Seems like everytime we are favored we get ousted early.

I don't know. I still might go with Pens/Canucks next season... but I'm always wrong. :)

Crosby just needs to stay healthy or he could be looking at early retirement. Pens should take a Defenseman in the 1st round this year. Despres will probably play more next year, but I wouldn't expect these crazy offensive numbers from him.

And in my defense, just like Anus, my black cloud was prevalent this year.
I think I picked against the Kings and the Devils in each series (and didn't bother making a pick in the finals).

    Tom Gulitti@TGfireandice
Parise said he wants to come back and "no way" he signs with Rangers

That's one team out. If I'm Parise's agent I'm pissed right now but I'm happy he feels that way. I expect Minn, LA and Det to really go hard after Parise on July 1.

DeBoer said Kovalchuk wasn't even close to 100% and he had a very bad back injury which was obvious to everyone besides Don Cherry. Kovy wouldn't admit he was injured...I hope that doesn't upset Don Cherry because we all know Kovy is a lazy, selfish, Russian who doesn't care about winning.

Jimmy Kimmel gave the Kings quite a bit of air time. Willie Mitchell fed Jimmy (and spilled it on him) beer out of the Cup. Video is all over the place, I'm too lazy to post it.
  22. mikesbandit Full Member

If you watch Cherry from previous comments, he said that Kovalchuck had to be injured but wondered why he was playing so much, pretty much sucking.

Hate to beat a dead horse, but it was a terrible coaching decision playing him so much; and what is Lou thinking not giving up #29 pick this year??
  23. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

I agree...Kovy shouldn't have been playing all those mins before the injury but once he got hurt his minutes should have definitely been cut down. I can't complain too much about DeBoer though, guy did a great job in his first year in NJ.

I don't know what Lou is doing. I originally thought he was napping and missed the 5pm deadline to forfeit the pick but he said he decided weeks ago that he was keeping it.

The rumor is that the Devils love some kid named Sissons and he's why they kept the pick. I guess Lou also has confidence that his team will be good for the next few years so it doesn't matter when he forfeits the pick.
  24. MartyBrodeur30 Full Member

No Subban or defensemen since all the Devils top prospects are all dmen and goalies.

I'm giving up on Frazee even though he did okay in Albany this year. Clermont, Wedgewood , and Kinkaid are the guys that will get a shot in a few years. Wedge is the most exciting. I hope it's Marty and Moose next year though...if there is a next year.

Devils dmen prospects are Merrill, Urbom and Gelinas. Fayne was solid all year and he's only 25 years old and of course Larsson is there too.

The Devils have limited scoring prospects in the sytem so I would guarantee they take a wing or a center, Lou and Conte obviously like someone to keep that pick.
