Wut? Why you keep askin' that? I believe in truth while understanding our own limitations. I am a humanist. That is a non religious belief based on reason and compassion. It's inspired by art and motivated by science. I believe in pluralism. Pluralism is the philosophy which understands that no one belief structure can account for all the different phenomenon throughout history's entirety. I believe in separation of church and state.

In your belief system, how did the universe begin? How did original life begin? Where does original matter come from?

We don't know yet. Evolution simply explains the diversity of life and not the origin. We don't know the origin yet but hopefully one day we will find out.

i don't have time to get into depth with this conversation but isn't it possible that we just don;t know the answer to that question but that there is a valid answer....and possibly that answer is beyond the grasp of our reasoning at this point of human existence?


the weird thing is that as strongly as somebody might believe in god, i believe, at least as strongly if not more so, in what i just posted....it just seems much more likely imo...and i stress imo

i was raised in a semi religious family, and went to church until about 12, that is when i started to question certain aspects of the religion being "taught" to me. i came to realize that people who place their beliefs in religion, no matter which one, are looking to pass off responsibility for their actions. if a person does something good, or experience any degree of good fortune, they immediately praise their god, as if none of the efforts they put forth meant anything. on the other hand if they CHOOSE to do something viewed as bad or evil, they say they were being tempted or "the devil made them do it" to me, this is a total cop out. if i do good things, it's because I did them. if i do something "bad" i did that too. me. no outside forces at work. take responsibility people.

I'm not sure which religion teaches that outside forces are controlling you, but i agree with your statement
