Well if zimmerman's father says so it must be a 100 percent factual account of the events, even if it differs from the 911 tapes. I was also unaware that Zimmerman was with his father during this event and that his father witnessed everythig that happened.

"At no time did George follow or confront Mr. Martin. When the true details of the event became public, and I hope that will be soon," the letter said, "everyone should be outraged by the treatment of George Zimmerman in the media."

That's called a FACT (please google the word since you bave no idea what it means) zimmerman himself admits to following the boy and continued to do so even after being told not to by 911 dispatchers.

They are already starting with Troy Davis comparisons. Troy Davis was guilty, but because of some very weak, supposed "recantations" by some witnesses, Davis is now touted world wide as "innocent", which is simply wrong.

ABC News was there exclusively as the 16-year-old girl told Crump about the last moments of the teenager's life.

"He said this man was watching him, so he put his hoodie on. He said he lost the man," Martin's friend said. "I asked Trayvon to run, and he said he was going to walk fast. I told him to run but he said he was not going to run."

Eventually he would run, said the girl, thinking that he'd managed to escape. But suddenly the strange man was back, cornering Martin.

"Trayvon said, 'What, are you following me for,' and the man said, 'What are you doing here.' Next thing I hear is somebody pushing, and somebody pushed Trayvon because the head set just fell. I called him again and he didn't answer the phone."

The line went dead. Besides screams heard on 911 calls that night as Martin and Zimmerman scuffled, those were the last words he said.

...Zimmerman violated major principles of the Neighborhood Watch manual, ABC News has learned. The manual from the Neighborhood Watch program states: "It should be emphasized to members that they do not possess police powers. And they shall not carry weapons or pursue vehicles."

According to Chris Tutko, the director of the National Neighborhood Watch program, there are about 22,000 registered watch groups nationwide, and Zimmerman was not part of a registered group, which police were not aware of at the time of the incident.

I know what facts are and we don't have the facts. The Charlotte Observer had a story printed today. It said unarmed Black teenager shot by White neighborhood watch member. One problem, zimmerman is hispanic, not white...

Also, it is not outside the realm of possibility that the transcript appears to mean or say something that did actually happen, All too often, hell almost every time something like this happens, people jump to their conclusion before all the facts are in and we don't have the full story.

One thing I will say now. If zimmerman did overstep his legal bounds and shoot this person unlawfully, he should go to prison but the real outrage here is all the anti-second amendment idiots who are jumping out of theirs pants before all the facts are even known in order to make some crazy point about racist-concealed-carry-permit-holders who are apparently gunning down young black kids out for a walk. Excuse me, this shooting is a god damned rarity if it is unjustified.

What is extremely common is young black men shooting up everyone around them, white, black, hispanic, young, old, asian it matters not and Where Is The Fucking Outrage over THAT!
  6. NC-Stern-Mark Full Member

From what I have heard, it does look as if zimmerman acted badly but all the facts are not in yet.
  7. Reverend Tyler Full Member

I dont think this has anything to do with the 2nd Amendment and in no way am i saying this should be used to curb responsible gun ownership. And yes, Mark, you are correct that all the facts are not known. But he will have a trial to give his side of the story and a jury of his peers to decide if there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed the murder. However, the idea that he hasn't been arrested yet is fucking insane.

I really don't know what happened here but it does give you the spidey sense feeling some dude got carried away with himself and shot some kid for no reason

We don't know what the police know. That is what I mean by we don't have all the facts. It looks as if a thorough investigation will be done, lets see what changes and what facts are released. Wow, this happens every time and then facts emerge and everyone has to take three steps back. Already newspapers are writing about WHITE neighborhood watch members shooting unarmed Black teenagers...

The police said they needed probably cause that Zimmerman wasn't acting in self defense. That alone is retarded, but how about the 911 calls? In one, he says "these assholes always get away" and then starts chasing the kid. There are witnesses and 911 calls that heard the kid screaming for help before he was shot to death. How is that not probable cause for an arrest? That the cops didnt even check Zimmerman for drugs and alcohol show that they just swallowed his story whole without doing even the slightest bit of investigation.

The Justice Department is now investigating, and for very good reason.
  11. NC-Stern-Mark Full Member

I don't think the justice department is investigating because I heard today it has to be considered a hate crime before they get involved. They have a State Agency looking at it, I believe.

I don't know who was screaming either, maybe they were both screaming, I don't know but I am content to wait for the facts before passing judgement.

I believe the DOJ is looking into the police dept. The Sanford PD has a less than stellar reputation.
  13. NC-Stern-Mark Full Member

No, that's not what they are doing. They are looking into whether they can call it a hate crime and get concealed carry banned. Its become the latest issue for the gun grabbers. Never mind all te murders that take place, they don't count but if one private citizen makes a mistake while trying to defend himself, then ALL guns must go. I detest these mother-fuckers.

Earlier today, local prosecutors announced that they'll have a Seminole County grand jury investigate the shooting. That announcement came about 12 hours after the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it will review the shooting for any possible civil rights violations.

The county grand jury will hear evidence April 10. State Attorney Norm Wolfinger's office, with the help of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, is reviewing and collecting evidence in the case.

The U.S. Attorney's Office civil rights division is reported to have a team in Sanford now, speaking to people in the course of its investigation. The Department of Justice said in a statement late Monday that it will conduct a "thorough and independent review."
That would not be a murder or manslaughter investigation but a parallel one into whether the shooter, George Zimmerman, 28, violated Trayvon's civil rights.

He was killed about 7:15 p.m. Feb. 26 as he walked through a gated community in Sanford, returning from 7-Eleven, where he'd bought Skittles and a can of Arizona Iced Tea.

Tonight, the national president of the NAACP, Benjamin Todd Jealous, will be at a Sanford church for a town hall meeting with local officials, including Sanford's embattled police chief, a Department of Justice representative, city officials, local prosecutors and members of the community who say Trayvon was a victim of racial profiling and demand that Zimmerman be arrested.
Some members of Congress have urged the DOJ to consider Trayvon's shooting a hate crime.

Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, spotted him while driving down the street and called police, describing Trayvon as a suspicious person.

Moments later, the two got involved in what one witness described as a wrestling match, and Zimmerman shot him with a 9 mm handgun for which he had a concealed weapons permit.

Sanford police have not arrested Zimmerman because he claims self-defense. Investigators say evidence supports that claim. Last week, they passed the results of their investigation to Wolfinger's office, saying they could not find probable cause to arrest Zimmerman on a manslaughter charge.

Critics accuse the police department of doing a shoddy investigation and shielding a murder suspect. Community and civil rights leaders have called for Zimmerman's immediate arrest and organized a series of rallies and a public campaign calling attention to what they describe as an injustice and outrage.

A petition on Change.com has garnered more than 500,000 signatures from supporters, including celebrities such as Gabrielle Union, Alyssa Milano, Cher and Russell Simmons who have weighed in on the controversy through social media.
Legislators have also publicly voiced their discontent on the House of Representatives floor.

"Mr. Speaker, I'm tired burying young black boys," Rep. Frederica Wilson, a Democrat representing Northern Miami-Dade and Southeast Broward counties, said Monday afternoon. "I am tired of watching them suffer at the hands of those who fear them and despise them."

"You need to feel that the criminal justice system works," Brown said, adding she's fielded hundreds of calls from constituents about the case. "I just want them [DOJ] to review everything that has happened."

Congressional Black Caucus chairman Emanuel Cleaver II said in a statement that Trayvon's slaying "compromises the integrity of our legal system and sets a horrific precedent of vigilante justice."

The question is, can a Hispanic be charged with a hate crime, or does he have to be a white Hispanic?

If the police do not take action, hopefully someone will apply some vigilante justice to Mr. Zimmerman.

    :jj2:

Fat fucking chance this will called a hate crime. All the anti-second amendment zombies sprang to life before they realized that George Zimmerman is an Hispanic guy that mentors two young Black kids and has an elderly Black neighbor that thinks he's the shit.

Where is the opps smilie when you need it? ;)

What I REALLY fail to grasp is how these cunts think they will get any traction on pulling back concealed carry laws, when concealed carry permit holders, who so very rarely commit traffic offenses, much less cold blooded murder, make one mistake.

Meanwhile these young Black youths out for walks are causing wholesale mayhem, rape and murder all across the United States. They are the problem, 70 percent of Black youths out for walks are involved in the criminal justice system, that's why so many other citizens have concealed carry permits.

Maybe if these young Black youths out for walks would chill the fuck out and behave like civilized human beings, they would cease to represent the threat they currently are.

I havent heard anybody talking about gun control in the controversy about this, other than they let Zimmerman hold on to his gun, something even a cop wouldn't get to do. And why do you think Mexicans can't be racist? I think the police department is being more racist in this anyway. If a 17 year old white honor student eating candy walking home was chased down by a black men and shot him in the chest when he was screaming for help there is no way they would take his story at face value and not even give him a tox screen.

What? I listened to NPR all day today and that's all they were on about, racism and gun control and how Blacks kids can't even take a walk anymore for fear of being shot, it was regoddamndiculous.

ANFORD, Fla. – Spurred by social media and community rallies, the shooting death of a 17-year-old Florida youth has become the latest flashpoint over how young black men are perceived in the United States.

Rev. Glenn Dames leads people in prayer at the Titusville (Fla.) Courthouse on Sunday at a rally demanding justice for Trayvon Martin.

Trayvon Martin's death Feb. 26 at the hands of a Neighborhood Watch leader in this small, gated Florida community has rippled through many corners of the nation's justice and political system and raised questions about the relationship between the black community and police in small towns.

In the past 48 hours, the case has:

    •Sparked an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI and the Florida state attorney's office;

    •Brought calls for changes in a Florida self-defense law that says a person being attacked has no duty to retreat and may return force;
  23. NC-Stern-Mark Full Member

That was from USA Today and was one of MANY SUCH CALLS for changes in the concealed carry laws, BEFORE ALL THE FACTS OF THE CASE ARE IN

AND BEFORE THE INVESTIGATIONS EVEN STARTED.

Which leads one to believe Rev, there are politically motivated douchebags afoot...

Being against their Wild West law is not an attack on the 2nd amendment or concealed carry laws.
