Of course Zimmerman is going to say the kid went for his gun. He had just killed him. Come to think of it, if a guy with a gun was stalking me, I'd probably try to get his gun too before he was able to murder me or someone else with it. If this was a white kid shot dead no one would be calling the white teenager a "thug" even if he had a criminal past. He'd probably be labeled a "troubled youth". Zimmerman was armed with a gun and was pursuing the victim who was weaponless. He was speaking with dispatch who advised him not to act because they'd be on the scene (and in rich neighborhoods they do show up quickly) shortly. You act as if Zimmerman was mugged or something.
