20K for each and everyone of you when you include city, state, federal government.
The countries that spend less than us are broke and are facing major cuts in programs now.
When spend 1000's more per person and they are the ones with Health Care, Dental and a bigger safety net than we do, how is that?? We are going broke and we don't have many of the Social Programs (benefits) that they do.
If we spend so much more per person and have less to show for it, who can tell me what we are getting for our money/spending.

Are you saying we should be more like portugal?

It's the military. We outspend The Planets of the Solar Federation for Christ sakes! Why, because the Russians are going to get us?

Bunch of paranoid idiots. Prepping in their basements and buying surplus gas masks!

Things will improve when we reform education. We require kids to spout off facts and test the hell out of them. Creativity and free thinking will produce a new generation of kids who will come up with the next best thing. That's why we are better than other countries that test higher then our kids when it comes to education. Because we still have a spark of creativity. Let's build on that.

    Very well put Chris,

I'm a war vet, not that it makes my opinion more important than the next American but yes, The Military can be cut atleast 25% if not more and we'll be just as "safe".

    Thanks for posting booy

Not to mention services and housing for drunks and addicts. Big business in urban areas.

Thanks for your service, I mean it.

One of the problems is most Americans are so removed from the military right now. No war bonds, no extra war taxes, no parades for returning veterans, no stars in the front windows from the families of those who serve. Only a small blurb in the back of the newspaper about another casualty of our growing empire.
    Enough already.

I think the time bomb is disability. Benefits for life for such things as being fat, stupid, or lazy. Some law firms specialize in growing these ranks of "the disabled". Can you imagine getting disability because you are depressed or have A.D.D.? Incredible. How about a sore back?

If these people are so disabled they can not work any job, how can they safely drive? They need to pass a law requiring them to surrender their license. You will watch the ranks quickly shrink and the growth halted.

My girlfriend's friend is on some kind of disability for mental issues. And not the $700 a month kind either. She gets a nice salary. She literally goes out every night, drinks hits the happy hours and socializes. Maybe she gets depressed from work but god damn suck it up lady. As a kicker she babysits on the side for like 20 hours a week and says "this lady from work I met the other day" and it pisses me off.

A good little bonus to add to your license proposal would be the obvious no alcohol either. Like when somebody is on probation, they get popped at a bar it's a violation. The smallest amount of supervision for this would put a dent in these claims. Again, it's an obvious idea but why not? Crazy people or injured people shouldn't be drinking.

Those other countries dont have the military spending we do.

Do you really want to take the license away from some guy who had his real legs blown off in Iraq?

Make a separate military disability. They deserve more than what regular disability pays. They would be exempt.
  11. Timmy Full Member

Why? If they are disabled who really cares if they were military or not ?
  12. Chrisfromvegas Full Member

Because everyone I know on disability (several people) are full of crap. They could work. Most are total fakers. I think it's the rule, not the exception.

I don't disagree. There should be wayore over site

Military disability is the only disability I think we should pay, start a charity for the rest.

Wayore over site? Wow, Timmy, you've outdone yourself.
  17. zimmie Full Member

many on disability should be offered job training that conforms to their disability, then it's up to them

Damn autocorrect . Although I kinda like it. I officially coin the term "wayoversite"!!

Some hardworking roofer who's paid into social security all his life. He falls off a ladder and shatters his back. He should just be left to charity??

Any one of us could become disabled in a flash !

There should be a middle ground....yes more oversight, but that costs money don't forget, but we can't cut people off....and military disability already pays much more than regulat SS disability pays, at least that's my experience, rather a family members but i know the details.
  21. Timmy Full Member

And u still get the military bennies even if you are working etc..
  22. FatesWebb Full Member

No, actually if you pay SSI, you should get Social Security, although to curb the current problem the age should be raised for full benefit retirement.
  23. Timmy Full Member

    THeres 2 versions.

    SSI = welfare for disabled.

SSDI = disability insurance. If you worked enough quarters and paid into the system you are insured in case you become disabled. THe amount you get is a fuction of what you were making/paying. With some limits.
