The show last night in Auburn Hills (Detroit) was good. Kool & the Gang were also good and were well received believe it or not. It is Motown so that is to be expected. Set list was nearly the same as the opening night except for one song. Things I noticed... The stage itself is rather boring. There is a small ramp off of stage left that goes out about 10 rows. Dave used it once. I would be pissed if I spent the money to sit in those seats expecting to have Dave in your face. The interaction between Dave and Alex was nearly non existent. Same with Wolfgang. Eddie and Dave seem to be having a good time for the most part but you could catch the occasional glare from Eddie when Dave fucked up. Aside from forgetting the occasional lyric, Dave sounded excellent! Eddie had his share of screw ups but you would only notice if you were a pretty hardcore fan. I walked away very satisfied. Fucking phenomenal set list and overall a good show. I will post pics tomorrow night when I get home...

You can debate the quality of Roth vs. Hagar songs, but you can't debate that this (below) blows away the pure shit we're seeing posted for the 2012 version in terms of the quality of the performance

It always seems that everyone that's left Van Halen is deemed the 'disgruntled' employee. So 3 different front men and it's all their fault?

The focal point of the problems seems to be the guitarist. I think Eddie's an awesome guitar player and still great to see play live, I'm just not going to sit through Dave struting around and destroying their catalogue. The new album isn't their best effort. Great, they took old demos and rearranged them and put them out to lyrics from Dave who still writes like he's in the '80's. Like I said, there were a couple of tracks later that I thought started well but then went downhill fast and I don't think this is the best effort they could have put together waiting 28 years for Dave to come back.

the only one who "left" was DLR....Sammy was fired by eddie and cheron was fired by the record company.

Hagar is a great singer but doesnt belong in Van Halen...he should be glad he has Chickenfoot and STFU.

I'm sure he would have come back had they asked him but it's all Eddie and his mindset that the frontmen have LSD (lead singer disease). The same with ousting Mike Anthony because he wouldn't stop being friends with Sammy. How childish is that for a 50 year old man to act like?

I think it's ridiculous. Mike Anthony and Sammy Hagar both got raw deals

Edward hasn't been this great since the mid 80's, the man is amazing.


Cubic Zirconia is fried people. The album rocks but live........... he's done. He can't even do his fruity dance moves and kicks anymore. Go see them before it's over folks, I'd be surprised if there's another tour after this one.

I really don't give a shit about Dave's voice anymore....It's just so nice to see Eddie on top of his game again!

I am a diehard VH fan. I've waited a long time for this album. I have tried so hard to like this album but it's just a lame half ass attempt. More like a cash grab. I think the VH brothers still hate Dave and they couldn't stand to be in the studio together to record new material so they used old demos. Eddie was quoted years ago saying he had enough new material to produce 10 albums. So where is it all at?

Eddie burned his bridge with Sammy after their disasterous last tour together and how he treated Michael Anthony. So now he's stuck with Dave whose lyrics are childish and his voice is shot.

Can't wait to see Chickenfoot though in May. They are inspired enough to record new material.
