To be clear, the bookkeepers and the accountant had no idea the vehicle was in his possession. And the unfortunate part really was that this vehicle sat unused for most of the time. Was he an idiot for not knowing that he needed to report that? Oh yes. C'mon, do you know the requirements of a theatre arts major in college?

If an accountant makes a mistake on your taxes YOU are still responsible. Further, if and when you go to court you will be paying the accountant to right his mistake even though it was his mistake. If you're stupid enough not to consult a tax attorney prior to your audit you could be responsible for even more! It's all on you baby.

No shit Sherlock, I would never use an accountant w/o good errors and omissions coverage. Again, if I get penalized due to an accountants error I'm not paying. I know, because they did and I didn't.

I do not know about celebs, but my friend is an accountant, happening there often is the clients have money coming into their bank account. They pay the necessary instalements for the year but those are not enough to cover their taxes as they are estimted on a lower icnome from last year. Then, they spend the money in that account, and when it is time to file their taxes, they do not have the money to pay what is due and have to stall for time. The accountant has no control over the money rolling into the client accounts and how they use it. He can tell them what they should set aside, but many simply spend what they have in their accounts, without considering what they will owe for that coming tax year, which they only find out in June of the next year. If they are disorganised and miss a year of filing, that shit adds up fast.

Exactly. I have an accountant that has celebrity clientele and he treats me as such-in other words like a baby. I have accounts set up for rental security deposits and quarterly expected tax payments. I could totally strafe those accounts and be in a lot of trouble come tax time. From time to time I'll get a huge refund (huge for me) and he will suggest to me with the strength of a viking to forward it to next year's return. Conservative for sure but it always keeps me out of trouble. I haven't received a refund in the form of a check in over 15 years.

These celebrities are not much different than athletes I figure
They're probably kinda dim and generally fucking clueless
They don't live normal lives and so have no real idea how normal shit goes
    That's what I figure

Or maybe they're just fucking scammers hoping to skate by
    What do I know?

Ya... we took the money, but we are celebrities and we simply "forgot" to pay taxes on the money.... two years in a row. ;)
