Where's the GOP outrage against spending?

Id like to see the Republicans come out against this since its approx 20 million tax dollars. But we know they wont because its aimed right at the tea party demo. And they shouldn't let the fact that average age of NASCAR fans is well beyond recruitment or that the Army pulled its sponsorship due to it being ineffective. Cant fuck with JR though. He's the golden child for low IQ morons who do what they are told by the media regardless of the actual truth. How else can you explain the "most popular driver" having one win in 5 years.

So according to this article, it was a Republican who introduced the bill to ban sports sponsorship - a Georgian no less.

"On July 17, an amendment to ban military sponsorship of sports and teams narrowly was defeated 216-202. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., sponsor of the defeated amendment has indicated he intended to continue pursuing the legislation."

    Don't make him read it.....

The amendment was co-sponsored by Dems & GOP and was voted on in a bipartisan way. Can't assign the blame or credit either way on the merits. But it does seem that the party claiming the anti-spending flag, and controlling the House by a large margin, would be able to get its caucus behind a bill like this.

Well Junior is the most popular because of his ol man, not for anything he ever did. If you're going to sponsor a driver though, you can't argue with the national guard sponsoring him, not only are they going to show the car with the logo several times throughout the race, but his fans (who account for roughly 25% of nascar fans) will purchase hats and shirts w/ their advertisement on them.

What I don't understand is, why the push to ban just sports advertisements? Any ads will cost taxpayer dollars, so there should be no more billboards or commercials either right? I mean, waste is waste.

At leaset ad can be written and aimed toward a selective target. This is 20 million for a billboard on the car of an overated never was for an audience that isnt thier demo.

    From your own article

"The amendment by Kingston and co-sponsor Betty McCollum, D-Minn.,"

    Nice selective editing there.

And for the record other than him being the biggest proponents of moving Congress from a 5 day to a 3 day work week so he could fly home on Thurs and not come back till tuesday Ive always liked Jack Kingston. He holds his own on Bill Mahers show with intelligence and logic as opposed to douchebags like Rohrbacher, Issa, Frum, Amy Holmes and the biggest giggleing assclown on the planet Stephen Moore reading straight from the RNC talking points.

I wasn't the one implying Democrats weren't standing up. Btw, all editing is selective.

Fewer work days for Congress means fewer days they spend interfering with our lives. Who needs more laws? Three days a week? How about three days a month.

Yeah, keep congress men out of Washington and away from lobbyists as much as possible, they need to spend more time in the district they represent to see how the polices they come up with fuck everything up..
  13. WillowGlen Full Member

Yes because lobbyists don't have access to travel or those new fangled cell phone thingys.

The fundraisers are at home IN THEIR DISTRICTS. That's why they wanted to spend more time there.
