I remember, as a completely detached teenager, that I still wept when the first shuttle was launched. My eyes may have gotten sweaty when the challenger sploded, too, but I was probably all fucked up and my reaction may have been delayed for a week.
I wrote some early lyrics about Sally Ride and how I wanted her to ride me and junk. Very adolescent shit.

ALMOST old enough to legitimately lecture you on the overkill/absurdity of overpriced disc brakes on an average joe mountain bike

Clear and sunny up there today Mr.Hole?

...close to 40 here, it feels fuckin hot outside now.

    kidding.
Ive got a Martin backpacker. Big waste of $150. No truss rod. Im sure you know what that means after a couple years.
The best acoustic that I have, by far, is called a Zager. Its made by the co. that makes the cheapo martin offshoots called Sigma.
Paid $650 and they want over $1000 for um now. Its as good or better than most of the Taylors I checked out that were in the $2-$3000 range.

The Zager is "designed" and sold by the guy on the right.

I had a Sigma in '92... I shaved the top and back braces, put in a maple bridge plate, bone nut and saddle (did big frets later) it was awesome. Afterwards I put on waverlys (or whatever they were back then) on it, it looked vintage and cool. A drunk buddy of mine fell on it though.

    Ever play a Collings?

I had a Sigma ac/elec at one time. Tone was a little flat but the action was perfect for me. Its what lead me to find the Zager ZAD80CE (which I cant stress enough, is an awesome guitar despite the "string science" bullshit associated with it)
Ive never heard of a Collings

    Collings is making killer acoustics.

He started out in the 70's building them on his own... but in the 90's he was one of the first to get a big ass 5-axis CNC machining station and stick wood in it.

Now he has still only 7 guys who work for him... but the CNC machines do all the boring shit and the people do all the rest. His build quality is insane.... never before seen that perfect.

His guitars are cannons too... almost too strong for me usually.

He just started making solidbody electrics.

Between Taylor, PRS and Collings, and what they build nowadays... Fender, Gibson and Martin might all die. (though I don't like PRS's much)

The death of Gibson and Fender SHOULD be their inexcusable, yearly, increases in price.

I just did an hour worth of shoveling... it's 42 here now.

It's so damn warm that the freakin snow is sticking to my shovel! ...I'm prolly gonna just go back out after the sun goes down then the snow will be less chunky.

I guess it's time to bury this thread once and for all, what with the lack of most of the long time poster. It was a good run. This will be the last word.
