That is the core issue. She's too damaged to see her self and her life in order to evaluate and predict the consequences of her decisions/actions. She is not really capable of taking care of herself and to objectively appreciate the feedback that life's reality is constantly giving her. Hooking up with people like Dan and Justin are examples of this. It's sad. I'm not hating nor criticizing her. She needs neurological evaluations (fMRI, etc...), long-term treatment for her trauma and unresolved personal issues and supportive people around her. This is what I would try to communicate to her if she was a friend or relative of mine.

That's part of the problem. She is hooking up with people who at best, have a simple black-and-white view of things. The drug involvement is just symptomatic of more profound things. If she didn't have any drug issues, wrote I wrote would still apply. Given what I've seen, you are not capable, nor really interested in trying to understand this. Shame. Again, not hating.

Considering my drug use in the past wasn't as bad as people make it out to be, I don't see how it has ANY bearing on my life at this moment....I was able to function without it, and still can....I never wanted it.....and it was over a 3 month period....sorry.....if you can quit crack cold turkey and not want it again, I think you are capable of making good decisions. People make mistakes....and most take steps to correct them....and I have.

I know that you would really like to believe this, but if anyone around you really cared and understood, they would try to help to see beyond wishful notions of reality.

Drugs were just your way of trying to cope with things. Many people self-medicate in various ways when things become unbearable. It's understanding how things in your life got that bad to begin with is what is important. Again, it is a symptom, not just a mistake. You're implying that if you had no drug issues, people would look at your life patterns and think that everything's ok. This is what I'm trying to express. You're too damaged to see things objectively.
