Why is it acceptible to watch Apprentice but not Idol or AGT here?

Just an observation, if you talk about Celeb Apprentice it seems like not too many people start bagging about viewers being fags or idiots or whatever.

Why do you think it's OK to watch Apprentice but if you watch AGT or Idol you're a sissy to a lot of people in this forum? Where is that line drawn and why?

Ah Howard, good to see you on here in stealth mode. Kudos for trying to understand why you've lost touch with a lot of your demography. So we come to you for our fix of the funny, the sarcastic and and the outrageous. Mass market music and variety shows are by definition the opposite of that. They're maudlin, over earnest, over reaching, self important. In short, they're what we're expecting you to take the piss out of, not lead.

Celebrity Apprentice is empty calories too, but you can suspend disbelief. We can't suspend disbelief enough to allow you to be the karaoke king. You know how you don't watch sports because at the end of the day it's a lot of hours wasted for ultimately - "who cares?" - we think that about karaoke x10.

Besides the fact that there are a bunch of Stern related people on it this time, it's just a better show than some half-ass talent contest. It's more entertaining watching mostly washed up celebutards scramble to actually try and accomplish a task, throw each other under the bus in the boardroom, and then get fired than watching some wannabe pop star caterwaul the same old crap you've heard done better by the original artist. I'll never understand the popularity of all these stupid singing competitions, I guess a lot of people like to fantasize they can sing?

Idol was ok for a while, I used to watch it. It was new and fun but then started taking itself too seriously and became too p.c. It started going downhill after Taylor Hicks beat Katherine Mcphee and never came back. Never have seen celebrity apprentice or agt but will probably watch just to see Howie try to reinvent himself. If only the midwestern Fraus that watch those types of shows with their tweentard daughters knew Howie's rapid almost psychotic stance on abortion and gay rights, one wonders if the ratings would go way down?

I just love watching the TV "talent" shows to watch people have their souls crushed and dreams shattered.

I don't watch any of them. I will watch AGT this season because of Howard. About the only reality shows I watch are Amazing Race, Survivor, Hell's Kitchen, Celebrity Rehab and Big Brother. I've tried watching some of those other shows but the really really really suck. I think I watched the first 6 seasons of American Idol and I quit watching X Factor after they eliminated the best singer because that Nicole moron couldn't judge outside racial lines.

one is semi--famous people trying to be successful in business ( i think).

The other is American Karaoke without booze.

Its one thing to hear an already iconic and proven voice like Willy Nelson, Chris Cornell, hell Macy Gray, its quiet another to hear some jerk offs take on 'Let It Be'

The shows should be called "Kill Yourself Now".

Celebrity Apprentice is much more entertaining than juggling contests like AGT or karaoke contests like Idol. I know Apprentice is all BS also, but at least it is a little more of a "thinking" show than AGT or Idol is. Many college business classes assign The Apprentice as material to watch for their course.

I have been a fan of Howie's for over 20 years, and I will not be watching a minute of AGT. I have no interest in it spending my summer evenings watching guys blow fire out their ass and jumping thru fire hoops.

The proof will..as always..be in the ratings. I have asked this once, and I ask this again...will there be a ratings bump, or "Stern effect" for AGT this summer? Howie hasn't delivered a "Stern effect" in years..can he now? I have my doubts.

Because AGT, Idol, DWTS, are singing and dancing and mostly females & gays are interested in watching people sing and dance.
