I would reject the basic argument that those with no kids in school do not benefit from an educated population.

thats the quite the slippery slope you've stepped on to

Everyones definition of "rich" is different. I've heard many a teabagger, who I know for a fact have much less money than I, imagine themselves as "rich" and thereby defend the ultra-wealthy to their own detriment.

But to say that America's ultra-wealthy "work hard and have worked very hard to get where they are" is a complete fallacy.

I've never claimed that starting from nothing and becoming ultra-wealthy doesn't often involve hard work and perseverence -- my contention is that a huge component in the equation is LUCK. Otherwise, many more hard-working Americans would be ultra-wealthy and we wouldn't have the extreme disparity in wealth that exists today.

And this, statiscally, is the truth -- although it doesn't fit your ridiculous assertions.

(Let's discuss this without the attacks on personal wealth/work ethic which only make you look stupid -- I think this is an interesting topic and fits my claim about people voting against their own economic best interests that you hate so much, can you be civil?)

Somewhere you have to draw a line on how progressive your tax system should be, and it is arbitrary, based on some compromise from those involved in the process.

But redistribution, to me, means welfare type of spending, basically taking from one group to give to another. Roads and bridges don't qualify; while this takes from one group, it does not directly give to another, but rather to the whole.

You've been pulling a lot of punches the past couple of days... what gives?:wondering:
  7. NCMike06 Full Member

    Not really.
  8. NCMike06 Full Member

What is yours ? Monetarily speaking.

It's not a fallacy at all....Luck..if it even exists, has nothing to do with anything concerning a person's individual situation...good or bad. Those people made decisions and choices based on knowledge and experience to create their own situation and status. If it seems like good things happen for them, its because of their preparation and work...not because they are lucky. You can always point to the extremely, extremely rare situation like Paris Hilton, but thats so uncommon its not really worthy of being considered.

Finally, we can have an adult discussion when you can answer the 1 question that you always refuse to answer. I'll ask again, 1 more time.

I am speaking about you..the person sitting behind that keyboard who logs in as Kill Van Kull....Who is best able to determine YOUR best economic interests ?? Any answer other than a reference to a specific person or small group of people is a complete deflection and we can stop there.

I have made no 'ridiculous assertions'.... thanks. :)

Back to the subject at hand, Thomas Sowell just wrote an article, on why Republicans have a strong case to make for why more Blacks should vote (R):

lLOL!!! Why dont blacks vote republican?? Simple. Republicans do nothing for them!! They dont even bother to recruit the black folk. Plus they foster racists and often times promote them as candidates.

If they don have a policy that helps the blacks, then its purely coinsidental. Like your housing example. Republicans hate environmentalists cause they stand in he way of business. Not because it affects housing costs for black folk.

Whats your next question "Why dont gays go to catholic churchs?"

It might help you to know that Thomas Sowell is black. This time, go back and read the article and don't skip the big words.

Good for him. Its not like there are ZERO conservative blacks.

His article is still stupid. Environmental regulation has helped the blacks. Back in the days when pollution was rampant. Guess the neighborhoods where all the posion was being dummped on?

Now why dont you go back and do a google search on "environmental justice".

    My view is this.

People who vote for candidates because of party affilliation are just plain stupid. No matter which political party.

Always vote for the candidates who most closely align with your views. Of course, this would require people to actually become informed, which is unlikely.

Like the people that voted for Obama because he was going to close gitmo and end the Iraq war? How did that work out?
  15. Timmy Full Member

He did end the Iraq war.
  16. NCMike06 Full Member

Yeah...the democrat party has done SO MUCH for the black community these past 40 years ......

Lets see....the Democrat party did to the blacks what slavery could not...they destroyed the black family. Thats a good job right there..... !!

10MM liquid, not including the primary residence or working business. Yours?

Really? Then explain why MySpace didn’t explode like Facebook did, even though it was first. Explain why Bill Gates failed in business with a company he started called Traf-o-data. Why do people LIKE certain things? Why does Tylenol outsell acetaminophen when they’re exactly the same product? Explain why John McCain is not the President. Lots of people are smart, lots of people work hard but not everyone is lucky.

Clearly bunk. Some of the same people that have winning businesses fail miserably at expansion or second go 'rounds. By your logic, that’d be impossible.

    Or Howard Stern, rare.

    (not this shit) Again?

A voters best interests are far more accurately determined by his social and economic standing in America, than by any self-declaration.

Why can’t you accept that truth? You’re stuck on the word “who?” It’s like me asking you who decides that 2 + 2 = 4? A voter’s best interests is the sum of an equation whose outcome is based primarily on tangible, concrete factors that must be considered -- and not on a misguided, often incorrect self-declaration. And I know that’s not the answer you want, but it is the TRUTH!

You act as though it’s impossible for anyone to vote against their own best interests? IYO, is it?

And just so you don’t go there, I’ll add this disclaimer: I support the fact that Americans are free to vote for any candidate they so choose. Just as Sidney Crosby is free to put the puck into the opposing teams goal – but that doesn’t mean it’s in either one’s best interest.

    :dontknow:

    how do u figure
  21. BillyfrSPhilly Full Member

So thye actually destroyed the Black family ???? How ?

    Give us details please.

Or is this your attempt at humor?

So slavery was some sort of character builder? A test run for the woes the Democratic Party would reap ?

I gotta hand it to you LIEMASTER06, you take the cake for ignorance!
