I wanted to like it but I only lasted about a half hour. When a show is edited well, you don't really notice where it's been edited; in this case the edits were so obvious it made the flow of the show seem unnatural. As others have indicated, it was too "busy" and unfocused. The acts didn't interest me. I guess if you were already a fan of American Idol type shows this might be fine for you but personally, I'll just stick with the radio show.

Keeping in mind it's a cheesy talent/reality show and expecting nothing more it was fun.

they do love their DSLR's and short focus

I've heard about the instrument the earth harp before, but I never thought I'd actually see one played, it was beautiful and moving to see and hear. I agreed with howard quite a bit, like he's been saying. Also, I think I'm going to get a tattoo of all the haters of this on my ass so that when I'm shtting, I can think of them

I have never watched AGT until tonight. I watched only because HS was on. He was very polite and likable. But the program is a big budget knock-off of "The Gong Show". I don't expect to watch it again. It was not bad, just not what interests me.

It was weird to see Howard in this context, but I enjoyed it a great deal. He will succeed in getting a much larger segment of society to like him. Howard has always been part neurotic pussy part cutthroat maniac... not sure why any fan would be so surprised that he'd show his pussy side. Effective network tv performance.

Howard has finally broken thru on TV. Congrats Howard, this is the show, entertaining, great chemistry, and the whole family liked Howard. This is the end of the radio gig. It is time to go out in style, AGT will be a hit for many years, time to stop waking up at 4:00, live life, and enjoy this new fun gig. No need for nasty Howard anymore, this guy is way more fun anyways. Say goodbye to the Amercian nightmare, and say hello to the American dream.

'America's Got Talent' season premiere review: A Stern for the worse?

Howard Stern joined America’s Got Talent on Monday night, as you know from the publicity blitz he’s been doing on every NBC outlet except forBetty White’s Off Their Rockers. I think he’s recycled the line about how “these executives at NBC are out of their minds taking a risk on me” during every appearance including this America’s Got Talent. He says this, even as, in the next breath, he tells interviewers he “knows how to behave” on prime-time television. A man as intelligent as Stern must have known that this was a losing strategy: Why would he defuse any promise of surprise, or the blunt humor that’s made him so entertaining?
As it turned out, Stern was, for the most part, perfectly fine, especially when placed beside Sharon Osborne and Howie Mandel — he couldn’t help but deliver better commentary. I had forgotten what a tiresome talent show AGT is, and the way the studio audience never encounters a “dance crew” it doesn’t adore. Even so, I was startled that the judges gave full approval to a lame rapper who offered obsequious rhymes about Stern, Osborne, and Mandel. When Mandel asked the rhythm-impaired fellow, “You don’t pre-write that?” and the contestant responded, “That was 100% off the top of my head,” everyone actually seemed to believe him. It was as though they’d been hypnotized into momentary gullibility.
Granted, much of this stuff is a matter of personal taste — maybe you thought the guy who put a scorpion in his mouth really did deserve to be voted through to the next round, even as I, with my soft spot for ventriloquism, enjoyed the vent who spoke through his live dog. To each his own, to a certain extent. But can we all agree that one of the worst moments this evening came not from the contestants, but from the strenuously phony spontaneous chatter between the judges during the sponsored “Snapple Chat” segment?
I like Howard Stern a lot, but I doubt I’ll be sitting through many more AGTs if he’s going to praise a perfectly nice performance by a charming man who played what he called an “earth harp” by saying, “I made my career out of originality, and I bow to you.” That’s laying it on a bit thick. Stern has long proclaimed his fondness for reality-TV junk, and now he’s putting his body where his mouth is. I can respect that, but I don’t have to keep watching it.

After all the hype from Howard over the last few months, I really didn't think it was anything special. I hope it improves.

I thought Howie was actually funnier. And some of the acts they sent through were terrible.

Also, Howard was a bit cornball with the "greatest country on earth" stuff for a light show. Puhleeze.

Thumbs up. Yes, he sent through some questionable acts, but they will get cut. I liked it before, and it is even better with him on it.

The show made me chuckle once or twice. largely cuz Im a stern fan and it was fun to see howard in a new element. The laughs also came from Howie, who I thought had better one liners than Howard.

What would uncensored howard have said to these acts, you have to wonder? I honestly see Howards dirty humor a lot more now after watching 'clean' howard. While the show should do well, I hope howard can at least ratchet up the sarcasm a little, otherwise he won't have 'hordes' of stern fans watching for long.

The rapper was surprisingly good because he was a suburban white who could actually rap. He deserved to move on just to see what he will do next. Snapple was Howard giving money back to AGT (hopefully it was not a DB infectation already?). The earth harp was stunning. You could not design a better TV show for Howard to thrive in, it was a total blast.

I watched the show streaming, but I missed some of it. I'm taping it now and waiting to get to the halfway point before I start watching. I can't wait to see the Earth Harp. I usually FF the judge's comments, but this year I'm going to watch!

I liked the show, and my wife who is not really a Howard fan loved the show....but I agree on the editing...it was so fkn annoying....for instance the act with the little girl and the drapes, they skipped her climbing up on them....I wanted to see her climb the thing....
