thank you, RockOverBoston for at least acknowledging Mo as a great player with class.

i'd also like to point out to the haters that mo hasn't blown a save since last august.

blown save with a infield hit that should have been called an out and a bullshit flare of the handle of the bat. rivera best in the game, best there ever was. pretty much every blown save is becuase of some bullshit broken bat single

I just don't understand what's not to like -- you all saw how he handled himself at our home opener last year, which coupled with the fact that he's not as infallible against the Red Sox as he is against every other team pretty much made him the one or one of very few Yankees most of "Red Sox Nation" will make exceptions for -- even an awful lot of absolute blinder-wearing homers will throw in a disclaimer during their little rants ----

"The Yankees aaah disgraceful foah suah, buncha ovahpaid bums -- but that Riverah's something special, guy, no doubt! D'yu see'im tip his cap at the home openah? Classy!"

I love how the Yankees are SO important that even in Tennessee, where there isn't even a MLB team (yet there's one in Toronto, almost one in Tampa Bay, Montreal HAD a team... yet nothing in Tennessee) people can somehow find a reason to hate the Yankees. What is it that makes someone from Tennessee hate a team on the other side of the country?
Was it the championships in the 90s? Was it that they did all the little things that are often overlooked by most players? Was it that they were doing it with a great farm team? Or does you not liking the Yankees go back in history some? I'm just curious how someone that really has no interraction with the Yankees, or their fans, would need to spout the usual song-and dance.

Nice win tonight, tough loss last night, but a good game nonetheless.... Giambomb brought the big bat!!

OK, I wasn't asking for the '2nd city opinion'. I understand that you have to get your dick into EVERYTHING on here, but the question wasn't directed to someone from the city that always ends the year, looking up in the standings at the better team. And you seem to have missed my point anyway-why would a guy in Tennessee GIVE A SHIT? I wasn't asking you because, honestly, I've had an assfull of your 'poor us, we can't compete because big, bad George and his evil empire have bought out Barry Bonds, Pujols, Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, Schilling, Sammy Sosa, Maddox, Arroyo and all of the other all-stars.
So it's time for you to sit down, shut up with your repetitive whining and let someone else speak for themselves, mmmmkay?

I'm just curious how Bronson Arroyo wound up lumped in with all of the future Hall of Famers.

    Shit, made me laugh, anyway.
  11. FUGLY2 Full Member

He's got a 2-0 record so it's only a matter of time before big bad, evil George buys him too.
  12. RockOverBoston Full Member

    Ahh, OK.

Still, that list was inadvertently hilarious -- "I know someone definitly hit a hot button, but has FUGLY finally lost it or something?"

Let's keep in mind that while the monetary difference between the two is, in fact, enough to field an extremely competitive team (or 2), the Red Sox aren't exactly tight with a dollar either -- and we've developed even less of our own talent than they have, though that's likely to change sooner than later - quite possibly later this season, in fact.

Schilling was developed by the Red Sox farm system before being shipped off to Baltimore and thrown right in the mix, but admittedly he's a debatable addition -- so we've got he, Nixon, Youkilis and Papelbon.

Again, I'm all for a good Yankee bashing when it's merited, but I don't see any reason to be hypocritical about it.

Here's one about the finances that actually works:

Number of players being paid more by the Red Sox in 2006 than the Florida Marlins are paying their entire franchise -- 1.

Number of players being paid more by the Yankees in 2006 than the Florida Marlins are paying their entire franchise -- considerably more than one.

Really, though, that's more of a potshot at the Marlins' cheap-ass owners than anything else.

I'm down about 2 dimes and need some tips. Schedule for Monday looks decent enough. Rivera decided to blow a save 9which never happens when the Bombers are dogs (which never happens) and cost me a codwad. Any inside on their trip to TOR?

    Give me some sure winners.

I don't know why we are still having the same arguments when there's no real argument. The Yanks are doing what every team in baseball should be doing. Spending as much money as possible to field a great team. The Yanks are just more committed to winning then any team. I'm not saying they're going about it in the proper way, but you can't kill the Yanks for trying to win. You can criticize Kaiser George for a lot of things, but you can't kill him for wanting to put a championship caliber team on the field every single year. And as a fan I don't give a shit about how much the Yanks payroll is. They're always in the playoffs and they always have a chance to win it all. And as long as it stays that way, I could care less if it's half a billion dollars.

    last night was fucking awful...

It is funny how no one complains about how much the Knicks spend. I think it's just jealousy in a lot of different areas-not just the the Yanks have accomplished so much, but there are so many great movies about the Yankees as well. But Boston fans, don't be so down on yourselves. You guys got Fever Pitch (an Adam Sandler movie without Adam Sandler in it).
