I just checked out the website. It's 20 degrees in Va. Bch (gets cold in the ghetto ya know) and I want to pretend it's spring. What do you suggest i start with?

Well, the most basic setup is all we have, but we have 10 of them.

They even sell a complete WATERING SYSTEM for them now, which would be cool, except I found that depending on what was planted in them, some ran dry before others, so I don't know how useful that really is.

The STAKING SYSTEM is cool for tomatoes, but it seems overpriced to me. We just use regular tomato cages stuck in the ground around 3 sides of the box with tomatoes in it, and that is MUCH cheaper.

I can see the value of the casters because they do get heavy and depending on where you put them, you might need to rush out to save them from a spring hail storm or something, but other than that I would personally just go with the basic boxes. You still only have to buy potting mix/ fertilizer/ and whatever seedlings or plants you are putting in them.

Hundreds lie about receiving military medals

Medals like the Medal of Honor are given to some of our country's most distinguished soldiers. But a recent investigation in Chicago shows more than 300 people have claimed medals of valor they never earned. A Pueblo man is fighting to separate the phonies from the real heroes.

Puebloan Doug Sterner has spent ten years creating an online database called Homeofheroes, which lists the names of men and women who have received the top military awards given in our country. Sterner has roughly 120,000 entries. "If I could do that on my own, it's not unreasonable at all that the department of defense, with proper funding and total access to the national archives could go in and do it quickly and quite easily," said Sterner.

Sterner wants the Department of Defense to create an official database of all U.S. soldiers who have received medals of valor. So Sterner helped write The Roll of Honor Act. A bill that if passed into law would require the government to keep record of medals given to soldiers.

"It's almost impossible to find out if someone is really fraudulent or not with the current system," said Sterner. That's a problem because a recent investigation by the Chicago Tribune found more than 3-hundred cases of people claiming military medals, they didn't earn.

Sterner thinks people mostly lie for bragging rights or to get special financial kickbacks. "When I see these phony credentials, it's just the ultimate robbery," said Sterner. A robbery Sterner says will continue unless more is done to expose imposters.

Sterner says the Roll of Honor Act hasn't gotten as much support from lawmakers as he had hoped for. But he says the defense secretary should release a report on the feasibility of the project by March 2009.

I could fit that in my yard (barely), but the big problem is there are tons of big, old tree roots running through my yard from every direction. They suck up all the water and make it hard to even grow grass in some spots. Plus, our soil is HORRIBLE.

The boxes put out as much produce as I have ever gotten from an in-ground garden, and the maintenance is so much easier. They are perfect for people who have limited time and space who want to grow their own stuff

Yeah, I feel guilty because some days I barely have time to take care of what's growing in the boxes - I can only imagine if i had a garden as big as yours

Once I get the boxes planted I will take some pics this year.

Oh, I love that......I wish I had the room for 1/2 of that. But I'm going to give the earthboxes a go for something different. I always do flowers and plants in the spring in summer but haven't done much with veggies. I'm excited.
